Compressor not running on GE Adora refrigerator. Temperatures rising in frig and freezer. Replace mother board or call GE technician. Not under warranty.

Best thing to do with a compressor that is not running is to check/replace the starting capacitor /relay. That is often the culprit. If that part is good, check to see that power is reaching the compressor. If not, you need to examine the self defrosting timer circuit, and thermostat for proper operation.

Compressors usually have a five year warranty but the labor to replace is not covered.

Noisy compressor

Is the compressor running when you hear this noise or is it noisy when it is trying to start. If the noise you are talking about is the click it may just have a bad relay on the compressor. If it is a loud humming noise when the compressor is trying to start then the compressor is locked up and needs to be replaced. Compressor comes with a 5 yr warranty and relay has a 1 yr warranty.

3 yr old ge fridge started clicking yesterday and everything got warm i unplugged and motor kicked on. Is this a compressor going bad?

Good day,
It could be, as you said, the compressor going bad or it's possible the start relay clipped to the compressor body is failing.
If it repeats the problem, you could unclip the relay from the compressor and replace it with a new one.
However, since you still have 2 years factory warranty on the compressor I would suggest you call GE or a GE factory authorized service company. If it's the relay, you will be charged for the repair, but by doing that you will maintain the integrity of the compressor warranty, especially if the repair turns out to be short lived and it turns out the compressor needs to be replaced.

Freezers compresser will not kick on it trys reason:power outage tried un plugging all night still not working

Good day,
Good chance the compressor was damaged. First however, you can check the compressor starting components.
These components are clipped to the side of the compressor and are held on with a retainer clip.
First, unplug the machine, remove the retainer clip and pull the components off of the compressor.
The components are made up of the thermal overload protector, start relay and on most models a start run capacitor.
Take them to an appliance parts house. Most are more then willing to test them for you.
Take the complete model number with you.
If any test bad, replace. If they test O.K. then you will need the services of a qualified service tech to test the compressor.
If the parts test O.K. and the machine is under 5 years old, then call your dealer for a warranty service call, since the outage may or may not have been the cause of the problem. If it is a bad compressor, and no sign of storm damage is apparent, the warranty dealer would replace the compressor free of charge.

Compressor will not start up, there is a humming noise and them it clicks off.

You have a bad compressor or a bad overload-relay-capacitor. It is worth repairing if it is the overload relay cap., but is not worth repairing if it is a compressor. Unless it is still within a system warranty, which is usually 5 years on the compressor freon system. I recommend you have the manufacturers warranty service company diagnose this if you still have a warranty. If you use another company the manufacturer can void your warranty. If it is out of warranty and the parts are cheap enough, and you have the mechanical know how, you can replace the overload-relay-capacitor with a new one or a generic new unit in some cases, and then test the refer. If it works, great. If it doesn't you need to buy a new refrigerator as most compressor jobs cost 900 to 1100.00 Good Luck, Appliance Specialists

Flashing display and ticking coming from the back

The clicking noise you hear is the compressor trying to start but the overload is tripping that is hooked to the compressor. Either you have a bad start relay which I would replace first or your compressor is locked up. If the unit is under five yrs old but older than January 08 then the compressor not the relay is under warranty. Jan 08 manufactorers have put a one yr warranty on compressors. Its real easy to replace the start components on the compressor. Unplug first then take back panel off. If the compressor is hot more than likely the compressor valves are bad and wont pump which overamps then trips overload. Then resets and tries again. But if compressor is cool then you should be able to replace start relay and compressor should start up. Those relays usually get too hot from dirty coils and/or a bad fan motor by the compressor that blows air across it to keep it cooler. But the cost of new fridges is an incentive to try the relay. Hope this helps.

Beverage air single door freezer compressor

OH well that's a real easy question to answer.

All the compressor manufacturers have a 1 year replacement warranty (just on the compressor). Any labor freight and mils like driers, freon, cleaner ... items are not covered.
Now you may be able to purchase an extended warranty for up to 5 years total. Some contractors offer their own warranty for extension. But ask yourself how much is it really worth to have ? Extended warranties are an additional cost and is not under the manufacturers warranty. So for the 1st year its the manufacturer anyway and on some manufacturers (Copeland) it is limited to 3 compressors total within the 12 months. So an extended may also be limited withn the 5 years.

And if your loosing compressors from 2 different causes, 1 electrical and 1 mechanical. And if the initial problems were inerrant in the compressors individually, the likely occurrence in the next 5 years is really remote in my opinion. Assuming the coil is kept clean and grease and paper is not allowed to block the condenser air and the defrost doesn't go haywire, and the electrical to the unit is kept within specifications and the replacement compressor was given a new drier clean refrigerant and maybe some acid cleaner.. But to me $700.00 for a whole job on a fractional compressor sounds really, pardon, cheep.

The reason is that if you hve more than 3 failures something else is causing them besides the compressors. (And I contend to agree). I have only had 1 compressor job that kept failing year after year. And the incompient rebuilder (Owens Hermetic OKC) kept rebuilding the same compressor body except for the 3rd time I talked the owner into getting a remanufactured one and that was because I took the old one apart and found the cylender walls scored and therefore the piston and rings were not sealing. And every winter the refrigerant would migrate into the compressor on the first cold day and boom no compressor.

Extended warranties (as far as i know) from an outside warranty company may not be as good as the paper it is written on. in other words I have seen 2 warranty company go belly up within the past 25 years. But not within the past 10.

Hope this helps answer your question. Let em know If I need to tell you more. If I helped you please give me as high a rating as you can. Thank you and good luck.

Compressor starts/stops alot. Compressor is hot coils are cool

Have you checked the power and the amps going to the compressor? Your compressor is getting hot and then it is freezing up and trying to going into cycle but the piston over heats and the relay cuts out the compressor, that is why when you let it cool down it works ok. You will need to get a new compressor. If you have a warranty the compressor is covered

I bought a Frigidare refrigerator today. Warranty needed?

its really just up to you. I am a service tech in grants pass oregon and i know compressors dont last anymore. Its because in the last 10 years they have switched from r12 freon to 134a. 134a has higher head pressures which make the compressor go out. If the compressor warranty isnt too much money i would do that warranty. You dont really need the others.

You can try to replace the relay and overload but on this model usually the compressors go bad. Call sears to check the warranty. The compressor should have a five year warranty.
