My GE Spacemaker Microwave is not getting enough power

When the mircowave is on, the light is dimmer now and the food is not warm as before for the same amount of time. Once in a while, it will turn brigher for a second and then dim again. Is my magnetron going bad?

The dimming of the light indicates a big amount of current being drawn by the magnetron. can you see sparks inside the oven?..it looks like the magnetron is shorting out with the ground. what makes it short to ground could be in the wave guide cover...look for some dark spots or accumulation of carbon from old food residue which becomes carbonized due to repeated heating. carbon is a conductive material that shorts the magnetron to ground.
i hope i was able to help

My microwave doesnt work

If you hear an unusual buzzing noise, the magnetron (the component that actually generates the microwaves) or other electronic module may be broken. This is not easily fixed; contact a service technician.

GE Spacemaker microwave oven - Sensor error

Hello :

Many models of the GE microwave have sensors that can detect humidity from the foods you are cooking. This allows the microwave to make adjustments to the power levels used to cook your food. If "Sensor Error" appears, you should either press "Clear" to cancel the mode or leave the food in the appliance longer to give the microwave more time to detect the food.

Press "Time Cook" to manually enter the time if you receive an error message when trying to use the "Sensor Reheat" mode of your GE microwave. The error message may be caused by the food item being too large or too small to detect
..

good luck .

Whenever I open the door on my GE Spacemaker XL mircowave the internal fan goes on. This is the fan that goes on when the unit is cooking and not the exhaust fan. It goes off as soon as the door is closed...

That is normal for it to spin for about a second or so becuase of switch changeover but should not remain on constantly when door is open. Have it checked up if it does not happen like the way I described it.

Need new light bulb socket for GE spacemaker mircrowave

The bulbs are glued in at the factory. Unplug the microwave and see if you can remove the base of the bulb from the socket with needle nose pliers. You may have to twist the heck out of the bulb base but it should come out. If you do need a new socket it is available at www.geappliances.com under parts and accessories. Or call 1-800-626-2002 for GE factory parts
