If the laptop does not boot, it is because files go corrupted on the disk. At boot time viruses if exist are not running yet. Could be that the hard disk is at the end of its life, If the laptop is older then 3 years. You can try re-install/recover the operating system.
You can use free softwares such as Pandora Recovery to recover data. I cannot guarantee that it will recover any, but it doesn't hurt to try. There are also a lot of other payware softwares you can try if you think it would help.
The directory is like a "table of contents" in a printed textbook.

Your hard-drive is crashed and unreadable by win32.dll what you can do is try kick starting by using your friend computer it just might do it. I had same problem and I asked my son to using my hard-drive on his PC. It worked and still working. good luck
