Hello, my HP Pavilion desktop PC m9177c went dead after a power outage. Right before the outage, it was on and connected to a surge protector. After the outage, it is completely dead as if there is no power at all but the green light behind the power supply is on (not flashing). What can I do to fix it? Thx.

You may have to change its power supply however, try this first

1. change your UPS coz the old one may have been damaged.

if that still didn't work, change your power supply

Computer will not boot or anything

Does it have power? Have you tried hitting the F8 KEY repeatedly after the initial windows screen starts? Do any of the pc's lights come on (hard drive usage, lan, cap lock, num lock, etc)? If you have absolutely no power try another outlet, if your connected to a surge protector see if the surge protector reset has tripped (found on medium to expensive protectors - if you hve a inexpensive one you probably wont have a a reset on it) try to plug something else into the outlet like a lamp, if you have no power check your household circuit protector and reset the fuse, but of course be leery. If something tripped the circuit something isnt right, indicating a power surge. Storms in your area or construction nearby?

It will not turn on please help me

Hello, I will try my best to help you, ok? I need to ask you a couple of questions so I can understand your situation more clearly ok?
1) Do you have your power cord plugged into a Power Strip or surge protector? If so, check and make sure that the switch is ON and/or the surge protector button has'nt been tripped.
2) Is there any sign of power to the Power Supply Box that your power cord is plugged into? (ie: led light, or sound of the fan inside of the Power Supply Box?)
3) Is the outlet that you are connected to live with power? (try plugging a lamp into the socket to make sure)

After you have ruled out the above possibilities, let me know, and we will go from there, ok?

After a power outage my hp a710n won't respond or restart. a small flashing green light on the back of the hard drive is visible. what can i do?

You hear no sounds correct?

In the best of all worlds, your power supply is dead. That will cost around $50 to replace. If there was a power surge that hit the mother board, you are likely to have a fairly expensive repair.

If you have any sounds from the machine, please report them.

Hp desktop won't turn on

It sounds like you may have lost your power supply due to a surge in the line when the power came back on.
Here's link to some power supplies, I would also invest in a surge protector power strip, to prevent this from happening in the future.

Make sure you get a power supply with the same or higher wattage then the one in your PC, they are fairly easy to replace four screws on the back of the PC and unplug the connections to the PC components inside.

I hope this helps,

Thanks for using FixYa,

Eric.

Desktop won't start after Hurrican IKE power outage

the only thing i can think of is the power supply got fried that is the most common problem when it comes to the pc not powering on. Now hopefully that is all that it fried and not the motherboard my suggestion is to take to local pc repair shop and have them change your power supply or you could put it in if you familiar with how the machine is wired.

Power outage, now pc will not power up at all

OK FIRST A POWER SURGE PROTECTOR WILL ONLY PROTECT YOU 7 % OF THE TIME, WHICH YOU JUST REALIZED. SO YOU NEED TO BUY A BATTERY BACKUP ALSO KNOWN AS A UPS.... I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. BRING YOUR PC TO BEST BUY AND THEY WILL TEST YOUR POWER SUPPLY, IF IT TESTS OUT OK THEN YOU BLEW SOMETHING IN YOUR MOTHERBOARD. GET A BATTERY BACKUPS/UPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
