i have a pc gateway gt5644e yesterday morninig the dvd-ram stoped to work, the device manager say can not start, code 10 the driver is hl-dt-st dvdram gsa-h40n ata device
Is there and alternate solution besides deleting the Upperfilters regkey? I tried the Device Manager method but I'm still getting the same exact problem.

-   I did everything that was said on here but my ATA drive still has the code 10. I've deleted the reg key, uninstalled/reinstalled the driver but it's still having the problem.-   M-a-v-e-r-i-

-   I have the same problem the only diference is that my error is code 39, to solve it, i've to the do the same process?
In Device Manager right click on the device and select "Uninstall" then at the top click "Scan for Hardware Changes" wait a few moments and it should pop back up and say "Windows has found new hardware . . . Hardware is installed and ready to use" The error should be gone but if not uninstall again and reinstall the driver afresh from the gateway website. IF that doesnt do it the drive died.

actually the trouble was i installed itunes in windows vista and the driver was changed
