I did everything that was said on here but my ATA drive still has the code 10. I've deleted the reg key, uninstalled/reinstalled the driver but it's still having the problem.

Is there and alternate solution besides deleting the Upperfilters regkey? I tried the Device Manager method but I'm still getting the same exact problem.

In Device Manager right click on the device and select "Uninstall" then at the top click "Scan for Hardware Changes" wait a few moments and it should pop back up and say "Windows has found new hardware . . . Hardware is installed and ready to use" The error should be gone but if not uninstall again and reinstall the driver afresh from the gateway website. IF that doesnt do it the drive died.

Can you hear it "spinning" the media? If not, you have a "defective" unit (motors or bearings).
If it spins, but nothing is read, then you have a "defective" unit (dead laser).
Take it back to where you bought it, and get them to test it, to prove that it is "bad", and then for them to replace it.

> in Hardware details it shows HL-DT-ST DVD RAM GH24NS50 SCSI CDROM Device.
Normal for most SATA devices.
> it shows as HT-DT-ST CD-RW GCE-8526B ATA device.
Perfectly normal.

HL-DT-ST DVDRoM GSA-H50L not work after trojan atac

Power up your system, then when the system boots, just right click on my computer, then properties, then select the hardwares tab, then click on device manager.
When you get to device manager page, try and locate DVD/CDrom Drives, then click on it, if your drive is there, then just right-click on it, and select uninstall, and after this, on that same page, click on 'Actions', and select "Scan for hardware changes". But if its not there. Just click on the "Actions, and Then select "Scan for hardware changes".
This should automatically out it back inside your My Computer page.
Hope this helps you out.
Goodluck!
