I can't get closed caption off my dvd player

Some DVD players cannot handle closed captions. Cheaper or older hardware players sometimes strip out the closed caption data. Players that have a progressive scan mode sometimes block captions when in this mode. And anything that's connected with an HDMI cable can't pass through captions.Most software players that you use when you play a DVD on your computer don't have any way to decode the captions. Windows Media Player can display DVD captions, and Apple DVD Player can display pop-on captions but not roll-up style captions. Certain paid versions of WinDVD and PowerDVD have CC capability. Look in your player's preferences to see if there are any closed caption options.

Can not get closed captions on dvd to play on sony tv with captions on tv set on.

Hi, you might have to turn the CC feature off from your TV and select the CC feature from the DVD disc set up.Refer to page 35 of the owners manual to get the correct language caption on your disc(dvd): basically press the audio key on your remote control until the desired captioning appears.

Close captioning is always on when playing DVDs.

I believe you have to turn the caption off on the DVD. Some dvd's automatically start with caption title. Check the manual for the DVD again.

GoVideo DVR4000

The control is under setup, it probably says auto.

DVD::Setup::<find caption>::<set to off>.

bewteen the double colons <::>; you have to press a button on the remote. between pointy brackets [<>], is an action you need to take.

I think that you have tried to use the subtitle button, it should say what the setting is & you usually have the ability to <cursor> [up/down for language; left/right for on/off]
