Question about Samsung Digimax S730 Digital Camera
New Member here,
Found this site via Yahoo and it looks pretty interesting, I have already been able to answer a couple of questions on the s730 for others!
OK, we have had this camera for 11 months (I think it is still under warranty for a month or so...) and it takes excellent photos and videos. In the last month though, the videos have developed a 'stutter' when being played back when they all used to play back smoothly and evenly. We only record at 640x480 30 fps, but have never had a problem except HUGE file sizes (about 9 minutes per gigabyte!)
The stutter is like a skipped frame every couple of seconds or so, the sound skips also when this happens.
This video stutter happens in-camera as well as on any computer I have played recent videos back on. I am really frustrated with this as this our only 'archive' medium and the stutter seems to be permanently recorded into the video.
This is probably a warranty issue so I will try to contact Samsung this evening, but we are leaving on an important trip July 3rd and would really like to have the camera with us!
I was thinking about performing a camera 'reset' (I think you can do that on this, I seem to remember seeing it in the settings somewhere, or maybe that was the mp3 player...)
Could it be a format issue? I have never formated our two cards (a 512 meg and a 1 gig), I just delete the photos and videos with the computer after downloading them and have never had a problem.
Well, except one video that is stuck on the one gig card because the battery went dead before the camera finished processing the video and it just gives a 'file error' when you try to play or move it. I am going to try some PC file repair software....
I don't use the Samsung software as it is really slow on this old Pentium 450 MHz and doesn't work on my Mac (my "real computer").

I have the same problem with 640x320 video @ 30fps. The first one was very clean, but after that the video freezes every two seconds, but the audio don't. I "fixed" this issue changing the video format from NTSC to PAL. Now the videos are smooth again, and if you want NTSC playback, just use a video converter on your PC.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
