Question about Acer PC Laptops
I have bought an Acer laptop two or three months ago. It has been running okay except window freeze once a while, but recently the freeze problem happens often. My resolution is to re-start the PC. The freeze problem can happen when I am browsing an IE browser, or reading an email. Sometime everything is frozen including cursor moving is impossible. Sometime the cursor is movable, but I can't gain any control, e.g. to get Task Manager to kill processes. This morning the freeze problem even happened three time in one hour. Please advise as to how to resolve the problem. Thanks.
A freezing problem can be any number of things.
Remove all peripherals first. on't use a mouse, external monitor, printer, etc... Rule that out.
In order to rule out a software problem, you should restore to original factory configuration. The computer may have come with a CD that you boot with, or you may have to press <ALT><F10> during boot to access the restore partition. If you do not do this, then you are on your own in trying to figure out if it is indeed a software problem that you have.
After restoring...if it still freezes... you obviously have an internal hardware problem. Is it new? Warranty you have.
Old? Bough it used? Clean the fan. It's probably dirty and overheating. Overheat is usually an immediate shutdown, but it could be another chip besides the CPU overheating and causing your problem.
