Thanks for trying, but the it does not need service, it was a battery problem (akaline vs. Nickel Hydride).

Nikon Coolpix L110 camera was bought for me for Christmas 2010. Worked fine at first, but now seems to be having problems. Batteries don't last. I just bought new batteries in Feb/March this year...

You have to charge the batteries for nearly 8-10 hours. Brand new batteries also require a full recharge of 8-10 hours. Not only making sure the batteries are charged, have you changed the battery in the menu under type of batteries.

My memory card is completely empty, all photos

You need to reset the file-numbering.
Turn mode-dial to Set and turn on the camera. Select Frame No. from the setup menu. Switch Frame No. to Renew. Press OK. Format the card (also from the Setup Menu) After formatting, select Frame No. againg and switch to Cont. File numbers will now start from 100.0001 again

My finepx 2650 works in view mode but not video or

View mode uses considerably less power than zoom, focus, or photo modes. Your problem may be due to weak/worn out batteries or corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries, place them back in the camera, and give them a good charge (assuming that you're using rechargeable batteries). This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, your batteries may need to be replaced, or the camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.

Low Battery Light Even with Brand New Lithium Batteries

If indeed the batteries are brand new and without a doubt charged,
then you definitely have a hardware problem in the camera.

You're probably going to have to give it in to be serviced.

Hope I helped!

Camera shuts down in shoot mode but I can view pictures on card no problem

Are you still using alkaline batteries? If so, alkaline batteries just don't have the power for more than a few pics in a digital camera. Some may have reached their shelf life, and though brand new may even have problems just powering startup of the camera. The Canon A4XX series are particularly sensitive to poor quality batteries. Digital cameras for the most part should only be used with rechargeable NiMH batteries. Retailers sell these for around $7 for a package of four (about $15-19 for the batteries with charger). Keep in mind they'll save you big bucks in the long run over alkalines, AND they'll last for at least 100 pictures per charge (and probably many many more). You'll be very pleased with their performance, and may slap yourself for not buying them sooner. When at the store, look on the package for a power rating of at least 2500 mah.

Low battery warning

What type of batteries did you buy?

For digital cameras, you want to use batteries with high milliamp hour (mah) rating: "2500 mah" if they are rechargeable.

If you bought regular batteries, you want to use good quality. Look for the "e2" or "better for digital equipment" type.

Does the camera have a DC power plug option? Try taking pictures with it plugged in if it does. If it still malfunctions with power right from the wall, then you bought a bad camera.

Fun mode and batteries

Dont use Ni-cd batteries, only NiMH or the new "Oxy" batteries from Panasonic, 5X the power of Alkaline and higher voltage, GREAT disposable battery for a Digi-cam. Some cams will NOT work on the old zinc batteries, even brand new. Fun mode is probably just to edit anyway, probably not a shooting mode.

Camera says brand new batteries are dead, then shuts down

It is possible that the batteries are dead (they might be faulty or too old) even when they are out of the package, though unlikely. Try another set of batteries, and if these don't work, you'll probably have to send it for a checkup.
