Blank screen Help. I have a compaq presario sr1103wm. When I turn on the computer the monitor acts like it is getting no power. Also the keyboard lights don't come on. I tried replacing the video card and got the same results. I also tried a different monitor and cable with still the same results. Does anyone have any sugestions. Could it be the mother board?

when I turn on the computer the screen goes blank and the power light on the monitor starts blinking on and off. When the computer is off the monitor shows on the screen a message that says the monitor is working check signal cable and the power light stays on.

Also when i first turn on the computer the lights on the keyboard blink and than go off like it lost its connection to the computer. It is not wireless.

I can hear the HD start up and the fans also come on in the computer.

When you say "When I turn on the computer the monitor acts like it is getting no power", do you mean the light on monitor doesn't come on or it does and it states it has "No Signal"? If it says no signal then it is receiving power just no signal from computer. What kind of connection is it? Digital(white) or analog(blue)? Is the keyboard wireless or is it PS/2?

If the keyboard isn't wireless and you're plugging the monitor in correctly I would say it's a power supply issue. Try changing the outlet you're using and/or bypass the surge protector to plug directly into wall.

try loading your OS cd but it will wipe out all the files on your drive. if this wont still work, then it might be prob with the hard drive itself. replace hard drive.

You may need to upgrade to a higher wattage power supply, which would also help with the performance of your computer. Or try updating either your system bios or USB drivers.

Your monitors graphics cable is disconnected. Try plugging it into the back of your computer, specifically your graphics card.

That or your monitors power plug is not plugged in.

If it's not either of those, either your monitor is dead or your graphics card is dead.

Unless compaq displays that message when the computer goes into sleep mode, it could be a virus.
