A. By Using the Motherboard Jumper:
In most motherboards CMOS battery is soldered, which makes it difficult to remove the battery. In this case we use another method.
Almost all motherboards contain a jumper that can clear all CMOS settings along with the BIOS password. The location of this jumper varies depending upon the motherboard brand. You should read your motherboard manual to check its location. If you don't have the manual then look for the jumpers near the CMOS battery. Most of the manufacturer label the jumper as CLR, CLEAR, CLEAR CMOS, etc.
When you find the jumper, look carefully. There will be 3 pins and the jumper will be joining the center pin to either left or right pin. What you need to do, is remove the jumper and join the center pin to the opposite pin. e.g. if the jumper joins center pin to left pin, then remove it and join center pin to right pin. Now wait for a few seconds and then again remove the jumper and join the center pin to left pin.
Make sure to turn the PC off before opening the cabinet and resetting the jumper.

B. By Using Software:

I have found that BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is the most effective.:
BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is a program that works instantly to remove any lost or forgotten BIOS/CMOS password. Simply boot your PC to DOS and execute the program, and get access to forgotten BIOS/CMOS passwords in just seconds

My toshiba equium just wont except the main password, cant reboot..cant get into bios

At this time you need to cleat the BIOS password first so that you can get into BIOS. To cleat the BIOS password you need to open your laptop you just remove the battery first. Remove the screw and open the back cover. Locate the CMOS battery, all password are stored in CMOS memory.

Remove the CMOS battery to clear the stored BIOS password, Or you can remove also the CMOS jamper near the CMOS battery and turn on the unit with in 10 second and turn off. Reinsert the jamper. Now the BIOS password are already clear you can get now in BIOS to change some settings. Good luck

Toshiba Satellite BIOS Password Bypass

Removing the CMOS battery for 10 mins will not do it as the chip has a "bubble memory" this will continue to hold all settings for at least 12 hrs so 24 hrs with no power of any kind is recommended to clear it.

Is there a backdoor bios password for a Toshiba laptop (model #1805-S253)? A previous employee password-protected the bios but "neglected" to tell us what it is.

The Backdoor passwords are not determined by the laptop manufacturer - the backdoor passwords depend on the manufacturer of the bios itself. Is it an Award biosor an AMI bios etc?

Award BIOS backdoor passwords: ALFAROME BIOSTAR KDD ZAAADA ALLy CONCAT Lkwpeter ZBAAACA aLLy CONDO LKWPETER ZJAAADC aLLY Condo PINT 01322222 ALLY d8on pint 589589 aPAf djonet SER 589721 _award HLT SKY_FOX 595595 AWARD_SW J64 SYXZ 598598 AWARD?SW J256 syxz AWARD SW J262 shift + syxz AWARD PW j332 TTPTHA AWKWARD j322 awkward

AMI BIOS Backdoor Passwords: AMI BIOS PASSWORD HEWITT RAND AMI?SW AMI_SW LKWPETER CONDO
Phoenix BIOS Backdoor Passwords: phoenix PHOENIX CMOS BIOS
Misc. Common Passwords ALFAROME BIOSTAR biostar biosstar CMOS cmos LKWPETER lkwpeter setup SETUP Syxz Wodj
Other BIOS Passwords by Manufacturer Manufacturer Password VOBIS & IBM merlin Dell Dell Biostar Biostar Compaq Compaq Enox xo11nE Epox central Freetech Posterie IWill iwill Jetway spooml Packard Bell bell9 QDI QDI Siemens SKY_FOX TMC BIGO Toshiba Toshiba
Toshiba BIOS Most Toshiba laptops and some desktop systems will bypass the BIOS password if the left shift key is held down during boot

Remove the Thinkpad main battery. Look for a small yellow disk. This is the CMOS battery. It is connected to the motherboard with two (2) wires that plug into the motherboard. The plug is included on the wires of a new battery. Check EBay for Thinkpad CMOS batteries. I have also heard Radio Shack in some cases carries this battery.
