It doesn't read!!!

I have a problem with the barcode scanner magellan 2200vs.It can't read the five and the four digit barcode that i created but it does read the 6 or 7 or 8 digit barcode and of course the ean 13 barcode.Why??Any help please i would appreciate if i had an answer till tomorrow!!thank you in advance!!!
