If you want to turn the image into text that you can edit, you need software that does Optical Character Recognition (OCR).

Without knowing what version of Word you have, in some versions you can convert your scanned image using Microsoft document imaging. Go to tools tab and select recognize text in OCR. Go to tools again and click send text to word.

OCR software comes as "stand alone" or as part of some other software. Adobe Acrobat is a good example. If your version of Word doesn't support OCR, you could export your Word document as a PDF, and then in Acrobat tell the software to "recognize text." Then export the text as a Word file or as a .txt file and import that text back into Word.

1. Click PDF on the Custom Scan with One-click tab or click PDF in the one-click mode screen to open the PDF dialog box.

5. When scanning is completed, place the next original and click the [Scan] button.

6. Repeat scanning by clicking the [Scan] button until you finish all the originals.

How can I move pics from the software onto my desktop? It seems like the program won't allow me to click and drag a pic to desktop. And if I want a picture to look better, i.e., edited, cropped, etc., I...

Usually the Kodak software stores the images on your computer in your "My Pictures" folder which is usually located under your user directory where your personal files are such as "My Documents". Within the "My Pictures" folder, there should be a Kodak folder where your imported pictures are, if not, check through the "My Pictures" folder and see if you can find the imported pictures.

Once you find the pictures you want to edit/use, you can use a free software such as Picasa from Google or you can find a list of some of the best FREE photo editing software from the link below:

I hope this helps! If it does, please be sure to leave me a rating/feedback. I would greatly appreciate it!

When i scan a document into microsoft excell ,the text is garbled and not readable?

have you tried darkening the scan? If you increase the density, sometimes it will come through more clear, if not, save it to your desktop and edit the document before importing it into excel, this should help.

How do you take a scanned article and transfor it to adobe reader 9 to alter document? I need to change the format i guess so it would register the material.

If you are working with a scanned document (TIFF, GIFF, etc) you must use an Optical Character Recognition (OCR) application to translate the scanned text into editable text. An application such as Omnipage will do this.
If you want a less expensive/less feature rich application try some of the trial OCR applications on ZDNET downloads at

Deleting words in Adobe 7.0 Professional

You can do that to some extent (if you do extensive editing, it can mess wit the layut of your document).
Go to Tools/Advanced Editing/TouchUp Text Tools. Select the text to delete and presse delete or type the new text.
If you are not able to select text, maybe your document was scanned as an image only. In that case, go to Documents/OCR Text Recognition and do a text recognition of the page or pages you want to edit or of your entire document. Then go through the steps stated above and tr again.
Hope this helps.

Help with adobe 7.1.0

In order to edit a PDF document, you will need either one of Adobe's commercial Acrobat products or a similar third-party application.

You can often copy the contents of a PDF document to a word processor or text editor program (e.g., Microsoft Word or Notepad) and then edit them, but in this case you cannot resave the document as PDF (unless your word processor specifically has the ability to create PDF files).

To copy the document's contents:

from the Adobe Reader Edit menu,

choose Save as Text.

Alternatively, from the Edit menu, choose Select All; then, from the same menu, choose Copy, and then paste the text into your word processing program using that program's paste function.
