Question about Televison & Video

HITACHI 65SWX20B turns off in 3 seconds

The TV will turn off in about 3 sec - seems like a power supply issue; I have replaced I-901 (STA-X6456) with no luck. Something is making the overload protection turn off the power supply, correct? What is the best way to isolate the problem? Any help is highly appreciated :-)

    I appreciate your prompt response.

When I turn the unit on, one of the green LED (D940) starts to blink along with protection red LED. Then after three seconds the unit shuts off - at this point the blinking green LED (D940) AND another green LED (D964) becomes dark & turn off. I read somewhere that the ones that turn off (or go dark) are the trouble areas of the Power Supply. So, my question to you is - what is the meaning of the green blinking LED (D940)? Now, since two green LEDs went off (or became dark) does that mean I have two sections that are not working (with bad components)?

Once again, I really appreciate all your help.

I got it working now! Previously I had changed a couple of ICs on the main Power Supply PCB - that did not help. I followed your suggestions - checked to make sure the components in the horizontal are good Itransistors, diodes, resistors & caps) then I re-soldered horizontal components (xfmr and transistors) it started to work! I really appreciate all your help.

    Many Thanks :)

On most Hitachi circuit boards there are small green lights in the circuitry that show if a section of the set is working. Also, there are small protection fuses that look like resistors on the board around the power supply transformer. Check to see if any of those are open and it will lead you to the trouble spot. More than likely on that set it is convergence, vertical, Cold solder in horizontal (FBT or H.Drive xfmr.), cold solder at vert. output, regulator i.c., or audio out. Make sure you check the fuses that go to the convergence amps and look for discoloration on resistors surrounding conv. STKs. These are prone to change in value or burn up. Hope you have some luck solving this, Russmann.

The green blinking LED was meant to tell us which circuit has failed but aren't perfect. My suggestion after taking a second look at databases for you are the same. First, check the convergence i.c.s and vertical output for cold solder joints. Second, look for discoloration around resistors in conv. circuit and replace conv. i.c.s and vert. output. Additionally, Hitachi has had a few problems with IH01, TA1360, C480 and C481 failure. Short of calling a repairman to repair it for you. These are my best suggestions. Good luck, Russmann.

When I turn on my Sony TV, ti stays on about 30 seconds then shuts off, What do you think is wrong?

Do a Power Reset.
1. Turn off TV.
2. Unplug the power cord of the TV from the electrical outlet.
3. Let the TV remain without power for 60 seconds.
4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. (If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.)
5. Turn on the TV.
If issue persists after doing the steps, reset the TV to factory default settings.
1. Turn on the TV.
2. Using the supplied remote, press and hold the UP arrow button.
3. While holding the UP arrow button press the POWER button on the TV itself.
4. When the TV goes off, release the POWER and UP arrow button.
5. The TV will turn on by itself and the initial setup screen will be displayed. Just follow the on-screen prompts to finish the setup.

I have a hitachi 65SWX20B projection TV. When I power it on, I get no picture, no sound, and on one of the circuit boards, an LED (D967) blinks dimly (1/2 second on, 1/2 second off). A soft click is...

If the board with the blinking LED has larger than average parts on it, it is likely the main power supply and the clicking may be from a relay that is connecting and then, disconnecting the AC. With no video or audio, the main power supply has likely failed. Contact Hitachi service to ask how much the repair or replacement cost of the supply is. Make sure you have all involved model numbers handy; the one from your set with the mfr. date if present and if you can find an assembly number on the power supply itself. it may save you time and errors. These boards are often simply plugged into other assemblies with dissimilar plugs but if you decide to DIY, take some snapshots of the cabling to be on the safe side.

I don't know what model you have but ... the 50v715 I have did the same thing. Would come up for about 3 to 30 sec's (picture and sound) then shut down and do again. It was the BULB going out. You probably just need to replace your bulb. Check your manual on how to change it out. Make sure you buy an original Hitachi replacement I think there made by phillips. Hope this is helpful.

Hitachi 32LD8700 - TV won't turn on although has power

The general problem with LCD type TV's is that the power supply fails. They are very sophisticated designs that are difficult to troubleshoot and generally best to just replace the module, but sometimes there is visible damage in some of the electrolytic capacitors (visibly bulged) and high voltage rated parts can be substituted.
Hope Ya Fix It
