I got given the Mp3 by my uncle and had no idea how to use it. it would not switch on after being charged. then i accidentaly deleted the systems folder and something else called firmware. I have no idea...

Your device can not work in case of you you have deleted the firmware. I think you can repair if you follow the instructions step by step which are described at the manufacturer's website here
I hope this helps you.

Creative Labs Zen Digital Media Player

you should try to reload the songs
if that dosent work you hsould try to restart it.
if you unhoook the zen when you are loading the songs on that could be the problem too.
also when you are downloading songs you shouldnt be on powersaving mode and you shouldnt have any programs running,

I dont think that there is any way of fixing that by yourself but if you have had it for only two weeks, your warranty shouldnt be up and you can send them your mp3 player for them to fix.

Getting out of recovery mode

The recovery tool mentioned above is not designed for the sleek photo. You need to download the firmware for the sleek photo from creative's site. Now we need to get your player recognized to get the firmware loaded. If you have Windows Media Player 11, it needs to be removed. Also remove WMP runtime. After that, restart the pc and your player should be recognized. You can then double click on the firmware program to run it. It might say something like, this firmaware is already you want to reload it? Click yes to reload.

I had the same problem with my sleek photo. Once I got rid of WMP and the runtime everything worked like a charm.

Zen Sleek Photo 20 g

I feel your pain. Yesterday I was in the same place as you. My player stopped working and would freeze after the splash screen. When I plugged it in, I could see the player in windows explorer, but the firmware update software, creative software, etc. kept saying it wasn't there. I went in to the control panel and hit add/remove hardware. I removed Windows Media Player (11 can mask the recognition of a player when something happens to it) and WMP runtime. I rebooted the pc and the player was then recognized. I could run the firmware update and the player works fine now.

Also, just a note. If you do get the firmware to run, mine said that firmware blah.blah.blah was already installed (even though it wasn't). Just hit okay to overwrite it.

Good luck!

I-Pod wheel broken?

To reset an iPod with a Click Wheel, including: ipodnano3.jpg ipodclassic.jpg icon_ipod_5g.gif ipodnano2.jpg ipodnano.jpg ipodphoto.gif ipodg4.gif ipodmini.gif
  • iPod nano (3rd generation)
  • iPod classic
  • iPod (5th generation)
  • iPod nano (2nd generation)
  • iPod nano
  • iPod with color display (iPod photo)
  • iPod (Click Wheel)
  • iPod mini
  • iPod mini (2nd generation)
  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.

Click wheel on my nano suddenly stopped working. cannot find a solution.

If reseting and upgrading do not work, you might have physical damaged. There are tiny little ribbon cables inside the unit, which are about the width of a hair strand, and damage very easily when pressed too hard - which is something everyone does the first time that scroll wheel doesn't work. There really isn't much you can do, other than getting it repaired.

Jsut make sure you tried to install the correct updater file first - LOCATED HERE - although it should not affect the scroll wheel - however, you it doesn't hurt to try!

Hope This Helps!
