blue screens are caused by either hardware or software errors.

If you are unable to startup now you have to use the windows cd to perform a repair installation.

  • Ekse Jun 24, 2008

You may have to take the laptop in for service, is it under warranty? Not geting a picture at all in start up indicates a problem either in the video or other problem in the mainboard.

  • Ekse Jun 24, 2008

Do you hear any beeps and are you able to start up windows?

  • Ekse Jun 24, 2008

ok, take it back to the repair man. or if you have the windows cd try to reinstall windows on it.

Blank screen

  • With the computer on, use a flash light to inspect the screen. If you can see a very faint image then either the inverter board is bad or back light. Usually its the inverter.
  • If you get nothing, plug an external monitor and toggle the display to it. If you get output then your screen is bad or possibly a loose video cable.
  • If you get nothing, power off, pull battery pull all memory out. Power on computer. If you get BIOS and a no memory error, one of your memory modules is bad.
  • Still nothing, then the motherboard is bad.

Wont recognize ide drive on startup

When you boot,go into the bios. In the main section see if your drive is listed.
If not, turn off machine, open unit, check power and data cables
Harddrive are blue data cables. Also check to see if HD is slave or master. Jumper switches on HD. Clse unit and boot up into bios
in the main you should see you HD
in boot sequence.. see if you c:/ is in the list
bios will tell you how to put in list if not there
close and reboot

Blue screen error

Check your bios and see if you have the anti virus turned on. If you do then turn it off. Anti virus prevents windows and other operating systems from accessing the bios portion of the computer. If this works then don't forget to turn ON the anti-virus when you are done installing the new OS

I was trying to go through recovery thinking I could get more speed on laptop and I messed comp. up. Only get a blank black screen. tried powering down, rebooting, still can't get on. Help!! i was trying...

Flashing the Bios is a LAST DITCH effort to resolve Hardware issues. You should NEVER flash the bios unless you are absolutely certain it's the correct bios for your computer, also NEVER flash bios from within windows..

There may however be a solution for you, Acer laptop computers with the Pheonix BIOS sometimes has a " flashback" feature, allowing you to revert to your original Bios..

You will need to contact Acer to get a Crisis Bios recovery disk from them. Or ask for further information on how exactly to recover from a bad bios flash.

BLue screen BIOS problem

i) i would directly answer to ur question: upgrade BIOS, initially find motherboard make(company name), version and few other details and visit that company or motherboard website.

ii) they will provide BIOS upgrading software for your motherboard or what we call firmware upgrade.......

Note: sometimes u may get this software( u can download it) , otherwise u have to online update which            will do online BIOS update

Thanking you

sometimes dell has a program that can check your hardware for errors. check all the disks they sent you. It won't be on the name of the disk but it should be on one of them. good luck.

You can either try to reset the BIOS, or have the restore cd fix it for you. By the way, what does the message say?
