Question about Gateway FPD1975W 19" LCD Monitor
Thank you, but that will not work because you only have approximately 2 seconds to do anything before the screen goes black. The best solution I found was to dispose of my frustration for $1 at the recycling bin and purchase a new monitor. My Dell was less than half the cost and has been working wonderfully.

Well i think ur screen saver setting r responsible for that if u increase the time ur problem will be solved. or ur power setting r responsibe for that u need to change the time setting there to . u can do that by clicking on start then going to control panel then power settings.

SOURCE: Black screen
Faulty capacitors in the power supply will cause this to happen.
The capacitors will be sending out bad current to the controller board and give you the results you are seeing.
Take it to your local TV repair shop and get them to change the capacitors, it should not cost alot to have it done.
Hope it helps =)

SOURCE: monitor stuck in sleep mode
It will do this when it's not getting a video signal from the computer. Make sure that the signal cable is firmly plugged in at both ends. Also verify that the computer is actually starting up. The monitor may not be getting a signal because the computer isn't sending any.

SOURCE: Screen keeps going black
you may need to change the video output to output 1 in your pcs monitor settings - if you have 2 outputs from pc, swap cable over and select identify monitor. the default for the monitor should be 1( a huge 1 over the display appears)

mishwilly. If monitor will do same thing with different KNOWN GOOD pc, then monitor will need it's "switch-mode-power-supply" fixed. Could also need CCFL inverter circuit checked!
