The noise your hearing is comming from an aluminum timeing chain guide on the drivers side of the timeing chain. My truck had the same problem. The noise first started when the engine was started and then within seconds went away. I drove it for about a year not knowing what the noise was comming from. A few weeks ago the noise got very loud and the truck stopped starting eventually. A few hours ago I pulled the front of the motor off to replace the timeing chain and my guid was broken right off and laying at the bottom of my oil pan. You can remove the two allen head bolts that hold this guide in place and run the vehicle without the guide. Problem solved and no more noise.

Can a valve tap in a 2004 Town Car be the tension on the timming chain?

B Mckenna, Timing chains can make noise, when you say the noise does go away sometimes, it sound more likely to be a valve lifter or tappet noise. You can pick up a mechanics stethoscope cheap and listen to the noise and hear/see if it is louder from the timing chain area or the valve covers to determine location.

Timming chain problems

I don't know what "timming" or "minic" means, but (from context) I'm assuming you think that you are having some kind of a a TIMING chain problem.
The timing chain simply goes around the crank shaft sprocket and around the cam gear, turning the cam shaft. If it is in place, your vehicle will run. If it breaks, the vehicle will not run. If it is loose, your vehicle may run rough, but there will be an obvious rattling noise coming out of the timing chain cover at the front of the engine, as it moves the tensioner aroundr.
That's about it for a timing chain. There is nothing else to it.
Hope that answers your question!
Now if you have an actual SYMPTOM you'd like diagnosed, try again.... and use spell check :)

2001 intrepid makes a ratleing nois were the timming chain goes

well if you know its making noise from the timing chain then its probably time to replace the chain and chain tensionors and chain guides, the tensioners and, guides are more likely to make that type of noise but if you havent replaced the chains it would be a good idea to do it all at once

Terrible noise comming from the timming chain area, 1999 nissan sentra 2.0 dohc

Hopefully its only a bad water pump but it needs checked out by a qualified mech ASAP. If the chain/belt goes it will be costly to correct.

YOUR VEHICLE IS OUT OF TIME. GET THE TIMMING DONE. YOU MAY HAVE TO REPLACE THE TIMMING CHAIN. BUT FIRST WITH THE VEHICLE RUNNING TRY ROTATING THE DISTRIBUTER A LITTLE AT A TIME AND SEE IF IT STARTS TO RUN SMOOTH AND STOP POPPING
