After completing a descale the machine no longer pumps water through the shower head thing (the bit where you screw the coffee holder bit on. Sorry about my technical jargon. The machine still pumps out plenty of steam from the steam spout bit (ahh more jargon!!)
Re: After completing a descale the machine no longer...
The water spray head is clogged up with pieces of scale. You'll have to take it off and rinse it out. If necessary, use a pin to pick the scale out of the holes in the spray head.

Remove the screw and shower screen under the brew head, make sure screen is clean, try running the head to see if water flows, if no water remove allen wrench screws, and check spring and valve seat, DO NOT LOSE SPRING AND VALVE. Try running head, if water does not flow, reassemble and descale machine.
Remove the shower, then the 2 allen wrench screws for the diffuser, careful do not loose the spring ad valve seat that is above the diffuser, now turn machine on to see if water will come thru, if water flows, problem is either screen or diffuser blockage, if no water then you need a stronger descaler because blockage is in the boiler, at the solenoid or from the pump. Most likely in the boiler, if you have a boiler gasket go ahead and open the boiler to clear the blockage.
Propably the vibrating water pump is the problem. It might be full of scale and it can not create any pressure or it is completetly damage and need to be replaced. First we sugest to perform a descaling of the machine and try again. Second you should try to reduce by little the quantity of the grounded coffee used. Aprox you should use 7 to7.5 gr of coffee. If you try to use about 6 to 6.5 and you have the coffee runing out from the machine like in 25 sec you have about 30 cc of water. Then try to clean the group shower which it can be ansrew by one cetrer screw and if you can you can open the machine and remove to clean also the coffee group solenoid valve. Bothe the valve and shower can be full of dry coffee that can blocked the way of water coming to the grounded coffee. If you manage to clean everything above and the machine work ok so from now on in order to avoid the problem again try to flush water from the group many times without any coffee. With this is like you wash the group shower and valve from any remai coffee. Good luck
Remove the shower screen and screw from the head, make sure screen is clean and run head without screen in place, if you get a good flow, problem on screen, if not then problem is on the inside of the machine between top of the head and pump. You can try descaling the machine.
Remove the screw and shower in the head, check shower for blockage, if it is covered with coffee, hold over an open flame to burn out coffee (easiest way to clean it). If it is clean and you can see through all holes then turn machine on and press brew button, if not water flow, then remove 2 allen wrench screws and check spring and valve(remove carefully) then try the brew button, if no water then blockage is on the inside of the machine use the pic below to clear it will be on the top of the head.
You can use the filter holder blocked with a piece of nylon so water will make the coffee around the shower and screw to desolve. Just keep the filter holder with hot water for 30 min and then try to remove the screw. You can hold the small screwdriver with a plyer and by heating it a litle bit on the back try at the same time to turn it. This will loose the screw.
First, if water comes out of the wand while you are brewing coffee then the valve has a problem, it might need to be replaced or the pressure buildup is forcing water through. Remove the shower screen and screw in the head and clean, then descale the machine using Scalekleen, vinegar is no the best thing for descaling the machine.
One question before I make any suggestions: If you remove the shower screen and screw, do you get a nice flow of water or is it still steam? If you get a nice flow of water, then check your screen hold it up to the light and you should be able to see through the tiny holes, if not, get a pair of needle nose pliers and being very careful hold screen over an open flame like the stove burner. The coffee will burn before the anything happens to the metal. When it is cooled screw into group and see if the flow of water is better. If you get nothing but steam then it is time to descale the machine.
you can try removing coffee oils from the brew head screen.(not descaling)
but you have to be really handy to remove it from the cafe retro.
need a spring clip or spanner wrench.
if you can get it off try this, if not, send it in to the service center: Sounds like you might have coffee oil build up. I would suggest soaking the Brew Head Screen, unscrew from the brew head where the coffee oils come into contact with machine, and filter holder in a coffee oil remover by www.urnex.com or dezcal. Remove the screw if your filter basket has one and do not screw too tight when putting back together or it will happen again.
