Hardware problem when i start my computer, it only shows blank black screen. sometimes it goes to a login screen or logs in and then an error blue window comes showing some error. the problem started with saying that some malicious problem found, harddisk stopped.

First is to try and reinstall windows. If that doesnt work then you will need to replace your hard drive

You got 2 options:
1-Start the pc and when you see Windows Welcome screen / Login screen, press ctrl>+alt>+del> keys twice and it'll show Classic Login box. Now type "Administrator" (without quotes) in Username and leave Password field blank. Now press Enter and you should be able to log in Windows. Now you can reset your account password from "Control Panel -> User Accounts". Same thing can be done using Safe Mode. In Safe Mode Windows will show this in-built Administrator account in Login screen.
2-Some computer systems have a setting in the BIOS Setup to disable the password. The BIOS Setup is accessed with the F1, F2 or DEL key during boot up. If you have forgotten your password, most systems have a jumper on the motherboard that can be pulled off to clear the password. If there is no jumper available, you can also remove the battery for 5 minutes to clear CMOS.

I think you should just reload the operateing system. I had the same problem and couldn't fix it

If you have a dell diagnostics utility CD, then boot it from CD and scan for hardware errors. If it detect anything, ask dell to replace it.

Put installation cd in. Boot and when asked at end. Select repair. When dos screen starts, select operating system. The prompt C:/ will apear, type chkdsk /p this will check your partitions and repair. When it finishes you should be able to restart.

Have you tried pressing F8 on boot-up and log into safe mode under administrator, no password, and right click on any empty space on the desktop, left click on properties, left click on settings, select a lower resolution,( e.g. 1024X768 ) select apply, select ok, reboot, log in as normal
