When I am unable to enter inside the windows operating system, how can i install sp3?

Is reload the operating system is a best solution in windows?

No one knows why the windows often corrupts and often need to reinstall the PC.

Now I did the following steps

    1. Insert the Windows XP CD into your CD drive and restart your
computer. If you are prompted, select any options required to start
      (boot) from the CD.

    2. When the text-based part of Setup begins, follow the prompts. Select the repair or recover option by pressing R.

    3. If you have a dual-boot or multiboot system, select the installation that you want to access from the Recovery Console.

    4. After you start the Windows Recovery Console, you receive the following message:
      Microsoft Windows(R) Recovery Console

The Recovery Console provides system repair and recovery functionality.

Type EXIT to exit the Recovery Console and restart the computer.

      1: C:\WINDOWS

Which Windows Installation would you like to log on to ?

(To cancel, press ENTER)Enter the number for the appropriate Windows installation. In this example, you would press 1. Then, Windows prompts you to enter the Administrator account password.

    5. At any time, you can type Help for a list of available commands.

    6. Try chkdsk
"CHKDSK" is one of the more popular commands
that you will come across in XP . For boot problems you should
always try the "CHKDSK /P" (Outside Operating System (Recovery
Console) or "CHKDSK /F" (Within Operating System) option first
before you go about reinstalling or repairing Windows.

You can exit Windows Recovery Console by typing Exit at the command line.

    then reboot.

Usually windows will recover and start working all the software inside, then I think the problem is solved.

But it will happen twice in 3 months , then it will corrupt the kernel and so I have to reload the windows.

try the above steps before you reload windows.

This is not a solution ............

How to install windows xp sp2 by using dr-dos

1. Check your BIOS to be sure your computer will boot from a CD. Enter the BIOS setup by pressing the "Delete" or F2 or "F12" key, or as directed at the startup screen, immediately after booting. Set the first boot device to "CDROM" or "DVDROM" instead of "hard drive" if it isn't already.

2. MS-DOS command prompt

Insert the Windows XP installation CD into your CD or DVD drive and restart the computer. When prompted, choose to start from the MS-DOS command prompt with CD support. The MS-DOS command prompt will appear in a moment.

3. Start SMARTDRIVE by typing "SMARTDRV" at the DOS prompt and pressing enter. You don't have to run SMARTDRIVE, but copying the files will be much quicker if you do. The computer will display the DOS prompt again.

4. Enter "CD I386" at the DOS prompt to change to the directory where the setup program starts.

5. Enter "WINNT" at the prompt to start Windows XP setup. The installation program will copy files to your computer and then display a message requesting to reboot.

6. Press the "Enter" key to reboot. The setup program will start again and check that your hard drive format is compatible with Windows XP. If not, it will guide you through partitioning and formatting the drive and then ask you to reboot once more.

7. Press "Enter" to reboot. The computer will restart in Windows XP mode and automatically start the Windows Setup Wizard to detect your hardware and finish the installation.

CAN'T INSTALL WINDOWS XP. The XP disk will reformat system and load window files, but after auto reboot it just stops and then wants to reload windows again from the beginning. ?????

The first time, insert the Windows CD-ROM, and start the reinstall.
Just before the auto-reboot, remove the CD-ROM, so that it will boot from the newly-formatted disk-drive, and continue with the rest of the installation.

XP Keeps Rebooting at Startup

Hi,
Most likely it is your hard drive. There is a boot sector on the hard drive and when xp starts it looks for that boot sector. If that boot sector is damaged xp can't find it so xp reboots again...and again...and... Try a different hard drive and see what happens.
