Install virtual box from : Download VirtualBox

VirtualBox is a cross-platform virtualization application. What does that mean? For one thing, it installs on your existing Intel or AMD-based computers, whether they are running Windows, Mac, Linux or Solaris operating systems. Secondly, it extends the capabilities of your existing computer so that it can run multiple operating systems (inside multiple virtual machines) at the same time. So, for example, you can run Windows and Linux on your Mac, run Windows Server 2008 on your Linux server, run Linux on your Windows PC, and so on, all alongside your existing applications. You can install and run as many virtual machines as you like -- the only practical limits are disk space and memory.

Whe I start my pc a small window says the installer failed to exit a running instance of magic jack

I think magic jack relates to your sound driver/device. I would try removing and re-installing your sound driver. If you let me know your model of computer or sound card I may even be able to provide a download link for the drivers.

Alternate method to access Application Recovery/Recovery Manager in HP PC

Scenario: Recovery manager or Application Recovery on your HP Desktop PC doesn't work or you are unable to access Application Recovery or Recovery manager.

    Tip:
    For Application Recovery:
    1. Click start, my computer.
    2. Open C: and Windows Folder.
    3. Open SMINST folder within Windows folder.
    4. Double click appinst.exe to open application recovery.

    For Recovery Manager:
    1. Click start, my computer.
    2. Open C: and Windows Folder.
    3. Open SMINST folder within Windows folder.
    4. Double click restore7.exe to open Recovery Manager.

If above folder is not found. Then,
    1. Click start, run. Clear contents of run box.
    2. In run box, type "D:\hp\apps" without quotes and hit ok.
    3. This will open a folder that would show couple of folders. These are the applications shipped with your PC. You can identify the software you need. In that folder, open SRC folder. You will find setup for the application here. Install the application from here.

I try 2 play a Lifetime downloaded demo game and computer keeps saying, cant run multiple instances of this application, but I am not, that I know of. What does this mean and how do I fix it?

    1. try restarting comp
    2. if the game is already running the name of it such as "game.exe" will show up in the processes tab of your task manager. kill the process and try to play the game again
    3. the game is being confused with another program or critical system process (this can be caused if the game is actually a rather poorly written virus trying to exploit operating system and/or other processes)
    4. if you do not find the game process in the list then I will need more information about the game and/or where to get it so I can test it myself.

    IBM Intellistation z 6221-3m8 computer

It will run faster only if the applications are multi-threading capable. Nearly all older apps cannot take advantage of multi-threading, but some of the newest apps are starting to be coded to take advantage of multiple cores/threads. You may also have to update the OS for it to recognize the second core.

How do i get rid of unwanted files

Removing the files mostly depends on the source of the files.

If you ware wanting to remove a PROGRAM that is installed on the system but you don't use, then you go to CONTROL PANEL, add/remove programs (IN VISTA, PROGRAMS AND FEATURES) select the program to remove, and click uninstall. Repeat for all unwanted applications. Some programs may not be listed in control panel, those usually have an uninstall application in the folder of the program in the Programs Menu (Click Start Programs [all programs] then application folder, then the uninstall link.)

If you ware wanting to remove DATA Files (Music, photos, documents you wrote etc.) then right click the start button, click in the folder tree to find the file(s) you want to delete and right click the file, click DELETE. You can select multiple files by holding hte CNTL key and clicking multiple files.
