Normally the software ( a micro cd) comes along with the go gear. If you have not reccieved it please check if the items had been misplaced. If not go to the Philips website searching for software for gear media convertor, download the file and install into your PC for converting all the files to be loaded into your gogear. I think there is the version idicated in the site against the compatable models. This should work alright. I hope this adivce helps you. Good day
Yes you have to convert the videos to .smv format.
It should have come with a cd that contains the media converter program. If not you can download it from philips HERE. I use a different one that I found by using Google and looking for SMV Convertor. After converting video transfer like any other file.

Hi! Your Philips Sa 3025/37 doesn't support .wmv video format instead it supports .smv video format. You can convert your video formats such as .wmv, .avi, .3gp, etc into .smv format.
Try installing the newest version fo the software from the Philips website first. www.usasupport.philips.com Enter your model number On the next page, click on your exact model number without the "B" on the end On the next page, click on "software and drivers"
If that fails: Make sure you back up all songs on the GoGear before attempting this solution. 1) Back up all files on the GoGear 2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips) 3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button 4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new Now you can do the firmware upgrade that will prevent this problem from occuring in the future. Open up Philips Device Manager and click the Update tab. This problem was caused because most GoGear's were designed for Windows XP with Media Player 10 (which is no longer the latest standard). -Tha Mp3 Doctor
