Hi. No you don't need another key, just turn it to reg mode where you normally use it during the day, and pull the key out (the key can be removed in off, and reg modes). Then keep the key in a safe place while the register is used during the day. At the end of day, put key in to do a Z report, then turn back to reg, and remove key. i have lots of my customers using this method. JUST MAKE SURE YOU KEEP KEY IN A SAFE PLACE. I tell people to put a big bright bit of string or something on it too :-) Here in NZ, the ink cartridge costs between 10 to 20 bucks, so prob similar in Aust. Try an office supplies company. The code for the ink cart is ERC32.
Hope this helps.

Remove upper casework:
WARNING! - RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK.
Ensure power to the ECR is off and the power cord is disconnected before connecting the interface.
a. Locate the power switch and switch off the ECR. Also disconnect the ECR from the mains supply.
b. Unlock and remove the printer cover (by tilting it up from the front).
c. Remove keys from mode locks etc.
d. Remove the grey name-plate located half way down and to the left of the register.
e. Remove the single screw located behind the panel (bottom right of printer mechanism).
f. Push in the two tabs located either side of the register and slide the top cover forwards. The cover should now lift upwards, away from the register.
g. Move the top cover on to its side towards the right of the register (take care as there are still cables linking the top and bottom halves).
