Ipod mini not recognized by computer or itunes

My ipod mini is 6gb bought in March 2005. It worked fine until last year. It is still charging and all the songs are still in the ipod. However, my computer can no longer recognize it. Same with iTunes. My ipod mini is 4gb bought in september 2004. It worked fine until last year. It is still charging and all the songs are still in the ipod. However, my computer can recognize it & but can't install driver. Same with iTunes.
