Can't find info for power cable between units

The second unit is not getting any power. Does anyone know where to get the connector cord (one yellow end and one black end) that connects the two screens together? Please advise

Can I connect this player to a hdtv?or do I need additional cables because it is only playing in black and white

Basically -yes; the picture quality may not be to your liking (there are ways to minimize this).
First let's get the units 'talking' to each other. There is no info showing re: the HDTV you're using, so I'll keep things generic.

Easiest: if both units have RF cable connectors (the old screw in cable TV types), hook 'em up with a short piece of cable, and make sure that the channels out & in match (they are ch. 3 or 4).

Next up: Look for RCA jacks for out & in on both units. The colors will be yellow, red & white. The yellow is video, the red & white are audio (lt. & rt. channels) Check the jack's labels to be sure. Fire up the player, and run the set up- Sources In on the TV, and follow the prompts to get both sources 'seeing' each other.

Better quality: Look for S Video connectors on both units (they will be round with 1 square & 3-6 round pins). If you have these & a cable, hook 'em up; you'll also have to do seperate audio connections too. With S video you'll have to check the TV's source menu, and go from there.

Best quality (short of HDMI): at the Video Output & Inputs of both units see if there are 3 RCA jacks (usually grouped & 1ea yellow, green & red (colors can vary due units ages)), match 'em up red->red, etc. this is important since this is how the colors will be displayed!! Now You also have to hook up your audio too. Again, fire up both units, with this type connection the TV may automatically detect the new input; otherwise let the units detect each other and go from there.

Out of the methods above, only the 'S' Video is a specialized cable; for the RCA type cables, regular Audio type cables will work. If there is a lot of RF interferance upgrading to better quality and shielded cables may be necessary.

I hope this helps out.

Philips DVD 963 SA - power supply crash?

Well the fact is it's near impossible to tell you exactly what part is faulty without having it in hand to test and look at.

Second, DVD players are cheap these days and are typically not meant to be serviced. You would also need to be extremely good at soldering as to not mess the main board more than it is.

Thank you for stopping by Fixya, Post back if you need more info.

Lost manual, can't get VCR to play

There are several Philips and Magnavox DVD/VCR combos that have sepearate video connectors for the DVD and VCR side. Double-check the yellow composite cable that is plugged into the back of your Magnavox - it should be plugged into an area that says either "DVD/VCR" or "VCR". If you are currently using red, green, and blue video cables, you will need to add a second video cable - a yellow composite would be easiest. The reason for this change is that red/green/blue cables will only operate the DVD side on most Philips/Magnavox players - that is just the way they decided to design them. If you happen to find a model number listed on the back of your combo unit, and have the model number of your television, I can take a second look at it, and tell you exactly which connections to make. Good luck!

Ac Adaptor does not charge DVD Player

I am well aware of what you are experiencing with your DVD player power connection. What has happened is that the power connector on the back of the unit is actually mounted on a circuit board by soldering connection tips. Unfortunatly it is not the best design because after the power cord has been plugged in and removed a few times it weakens and loosed these soldered tips and it nolonger has a good connection on the board. Short of removing the board and re-soldering the connection there is little else that can be done. Your expertise with a soldering gun depends as to whether or not you are successful in re-establishing the connection. It seems to me that if it is re-soldered, then it is just a matter of time before it breaks loose again and the board will damage after so many breaks. What I have done to repair this is to try and find a female connector like the one mounted to the board except find on that is on a cord instead. Solder the wire in the cable to the board and attact the cable to the case in a fashion that when the wire is being connected for charging that it won't pull the soldered connections out of the board. Sure, you will have a short piece of wire hanging from the rear of the unit, but this way you won't have to be concerned with the cable detaching and loosing your ability to use the unit with an AC adaptor or for charging the battery. I hope you can find a remedy for this that works. If you stumble across a better Idea Please let me know. best of luck!

My sincerest apologies. I was not made aware that you posted a direct request for assistance. It was only by chance that I saw your post.

To your concern should you still require information; most units would have a yellow, red and white connectors commonly called RCA. What is required then is a triple RCA to RCA connector as shown below. The yellow is normally connected to the video, while the red & white are for the R & L of the audio. An identical set would be on the rear of the TV unit henceforth the connection would be OUT from the KLH DVD 221 to the IN of the TV.
In some instances, a single cable is used to connect some models to the TV. This is called an RF patch cord and would look sonething like below. This would come form the RF OUT of the player to the RF/CABLE/ANT IN of the TV. Pls make sure that the style/form fits your units.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

The screen connector that connects the two screens is not working anymore. I need to purchase a new one that will fit the screens. Where do I purchase this ? As of right now, we can only use the first...

I have found a person that has the power cords. We got the same run around about the Disney supplier getting the parts in a "few weeks". I happened to come across Jamie on Ebay. He had refurbished players and mentioned that he had power cords. I bought two power cords from him in case I needed one in the future. I received them today and they are exactly what I was looking for. I don't know if I can give out email address so I will give you his Ebay seller ID. It is oshog23. I bought them for $10 each and it included USPS Priority Mail.

Power to second screen

Try the online help at Also, in order to watch both units together, once connecteded by the audio video cable (red/white/yellow), the power supply must go to the dc in jack of the monitor (not to the the player).
