Dryer Hi, my GE dryer also won't keep running when i let go of the start switch. Could it me the start switch or the button switch on the door that is the problem? I read something in you previuos post about a safety switch? What would that look like? Thanks in advance! Dan

I have a GE electric dryer that is barely a year old. I will not start when I push the button. Is there a reset button on a GE dryer?

Try pressing on the door switch and running it with the door open, if it works you need to replace the door switch

Start button starts dryer and dryer stops when button is released.

Ge dryers have a belt sensing switch inside that won't let the dryer run (just as you describe) when the belt breaks or comes off. My guess is you broke a belt. With door open---hold in button door switch and hit the start switch to get it too run a few seconds. Watch the drum and see if it turns. My guess it will not. Belt is a long skinny band that goes all around the drum outer area and then down around the motor.

Have ptdn600emwt dryer when pressing start button makes noise but does not run

I have found that the switch activated by the door close or turns on the interior light when open on is likely the problem. You may notice that if the door is open and you push the start button, it will buzz. So if the door is closed and you get this buzz when pushing the start button, there is a problem with the door switch. The start button "thinks" the door is open, and therefore not start. The defective door switch needs to be replaced. At least highly likely.

Dryer won't hold run position

Most likely problem is a bad door switch. This is a common problem. Another possibility is a bad timer switch.

Of course it could very well be a broken door switch.

I took some photos. Hotpoint dryer revamp

Ge dryer will not start when i push start button

Look inside door and get me the model number. This could be many different things that can cause this. Bad door switch, high-limit, timer, start button and a lot more, so let me know what happens, check power to dryer and see if timer even runs. Thanks, Sea Breeze
