Unable to print using samsung print on Windows XP

Troubleshooting Steps Followed:

Printer was properly installed, when tried to print a test page : Windows explorer used to shutdown...

Reinstalled printer from control pannel : Same error
Tried to print a test page using the Samsung s/w : success;
Tried to print from note pad : Failed...
Restarted the print spooler and tried to print : nogo;
Bypassed print spooler and tried to print : nogo;
Uninstalled Kodak easy share s.w and tried to print : nogo;
Uninstalled amyuni printer driver : nogo
Added a new printer using the samsung cpl 300 driver and tried to print : nogo;
Tried doing windows updates : nogo;
Did a clean boot and tried to print a test page : nogo


Post this the customer has been offered a call back after researching on the issue.

To resolve this issue, follow these steps: 1. If you do not have a Lexmark printer installed, go to step 4. If you do have a Lexmark printer installed, go to step 2.
2. If the Lexmark print service is installed on your computer, turn off the LexBce Server service. To do this, follow these steps: a. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Manage.
b. Expand Services and Applications, and then click Services.
c. In the details pane, right-click LexBce Server, and then click Properties.
d. On the General tab, in the Startup type list, click Disabled.
e. Under Service status, click Stop, and then click OK.
f. Right-click the Print Spooler service, and then click Start (if it is stopped).
g. Exit Computer Management.

3. Test whether the issue is resolved. If the issue is resolved, you do not have to follow the remaining steps. If the issue is not resolved, go to step 4, and then follow the remaining steps.
4. Start the computer in safe mode. To do this, follow these steps:a. Restart your computer and start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured to start multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when the Boot menu appears.
b. Select an option when the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, and then press ENTER.
c. When the Boot menu appears again, and the words "Safe Mode" appear in blue at the bottom, select the installation that you want to start, and then press ENTER.
Note For more information about how to start your computer in safe mode, click Start, click Help and Support, type safe mode in the Search box, press the ENTER key, and then click the Start Windows in safe mode topic.

5. Start Microsoft Windows Explorer, and then delete all the files and the folders in the following two folders (where C: is the drive where you have Windows XP installed): • C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Printers
• C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Drivers\w32x86

6. Start Registry Editor. To do this, click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
7. Locate and expand the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows NT x86
View the list of subkeys. There should only be the following subkeys: • Drivers
• Print Processors

8. If there are any subkeys other than the subkeys that are listed in step 7, follow these steps: a. On the File menu, click Export.
b. In the File Name box, type the name that you want to use for this key, such as WindowsNTx86regkey, and then click Save.
You can use this backup of the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows NT x86 registry key to restore the key if you experience any issues after you complete this procedure.
c. Delete all the subkeys other than the subkeys that are listed in step 6. To do this, right-click each subkey that is not on the list, and then click Delete. Click Yes when you are prompted to confirm the deletion.

9. Locate and then expand the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows NT x86\Drivers
The registry entries for the printer drivers that are installed on the computer are stored in the Version-x subkey or subkeys, where x is a number (typically 2 or 3).
10. Export the Version-x subkey or subkeys. To do this, follow these steps:a. On the File menu, click Export.
b. In the File Name box, type the name that you want to use for this key, such as print driver, and then click Save.

11. Expand the Version-x subkey or subkeys, and then delete the printer driver entries. To do this, right-click each printer driver subkey, and then click Delete. Click Yes when you are prompted to confirm the deletion.
12. Locate and then expand the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors
View the list of subkeys. There should only be the following subkeys for the default print monitors: • BJ Language Monitor
• Local Port
• PJL Language Monitor
• Standard TCP/IP Port
• USB Monitor

13. If there are any subkeys other than the subkeys that are listed in step 12, follow these steps: a. On the File menu, click Export.
b. In the File Name box, type the name that you want to use for this key, such as MonitorsRegkey, and then click Save.
You can use this backup of the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors registry key to restore the key if you experience any issues after you complete this procedure.
c. Delete all the subkeys other than the subkeys that are listed in step 10. To do this, right-click each subkey that is not on the list, and then click Delete. Click Yes when you are prompted to confirm the deletion.

14. If you have a printer attached, disconnect the printer cable from the computer, and then restart the computer.
15. Verify that the Print Spooler service is running. To do this, follow these steps: a. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Manage.
b. Expand Services and Applications, and then click Services.
c. In the details pane, right-click the Print Spooler service, and then click Start (if it is stopped).
d. Exit Computer Management.
Note If you cannot start the Print Spooler service, follow the steps in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article to start the Print Spooler service:

Solution one: Check the ink levels To allow for full use of the cartridges, some printers continue to print even after the cartridges are completely out of ink. Follow these steps to check the ink levels in the Toolbox . The Toolbox is part of the standard printer software. Depending on the version of Toolbox on your computer, the appearance of the Toolbox features might vary.
NOTE: Ink level warnings and indicators provide estimates for planning purposes only. When an indicator shows low ink levels, consider having a replacement cartridge available to avoid possible printing delays. Print quality deteriorates as cartridges run out of ink.
  1. Click Start (c01827528.gif ), click All Programs , click the HP folder, and then click the icon for your HP printer (c02053172.gif ). The printer software opens.
  2. In the printer software, double-click Estimated Ink Levels . The Toolbox opens.

General Printer Troubleshooting


Printer does not have power indicator<br />First, make sure that the printer is on. When a printer is on it should have some light (usually green) indicating it's receiving power and is on.<br />If you do not have any indicator light make sure the printer is connected to a working power outlet by verifying each end of the power cable. Next, press the printer power button.<br />If after following the above steps your printer still cannot get a power status indicator it's likely you're encountering a serious printer issue and we suggest contacting the printer manufacturer for additional steps and instructions on repair or replacement.<br /><br />Cables not connected properly<br />Your printer should have two cables connected to it. The power cable and the data cable, the power cable should have already been verified as being connected if your printer has a power indicator light as mentioned above. Make sure the data cable (parallel cable or USB cable) is also connected from the printer to the computer.<br /><br />Printer error (orange or blinking light)<br />After your printer has completed its initial startup you should have a solid green light. If the light indicator is blinking or orange often this is an indication of a printer error. For example, this could indicate a paper jam, issue with the ink or toner cartridge, or other serious error.<br />Because there is no standard to what a blinking light or orange light means if you're getting either of these we suggest referring to the printer documentation for troubleshooting steps or methods of determining what the status indicator is reporting.<br /><br />No paper or paper jam<br />Without paper your printer will not be able to print. Make sure you have paper in the paper loaded into the printer paper cartridge or tray. Next, verify that no printer paper is jammed or partially fed into the printer. Are you using a third party USB adapter or a USB interface? On the self test page that you printed does it say USB connection or something that will say about USB? or does it say parallel or serial connection? try to check the dip switches setting if its configured properly. visit epsonexperts.com site for more info.

After installing Hp photosmart C5280 driver on windows xp, i am only able to print blank pages


Before doing any troubleshooting on the printer, check the ink levels then print a test page using the front panel of the printer. If the print out is good try this website for additional troubleshooting.

Cant connect (or see) my LaserJet 5000 on Windows XP


In XP go to START > CONTROL PANEL > NETWORK CONNECTIONS > LOCAL AREA CONNECTION
you should see a menu showing your network card and a window that says stuff like Client for Microsoft Windows. Below that window is an INSTALL button. Click on that and double click PROTOCOL. Select IPX/SPX NetBios and hit OK. You'll probably need the WindowsXP CD to finish installing the protocol.

The LJ5000 is a very old printer and if I remember correctly, it uses the IPX/SPX Netbios language to communicate through a network. Netbios is not installed by default in XP.

Setting up or installing a printer in Microsoft Windows. Issue:Setting up or installing a printer in Microsoft Windows.
Solution:There are two different methods a user can install a printer in Microsoft Windows. Below is additional information about each of these methods listed in the order we believe a user should try installing their printer in Microsoft Windows.
Before being able to install your printer you must have the software that was included with the printer. If you've lost the software for your printer you can download the drivers for your printer and use the drivers to install your printer. A listing of printer manufacturers and links to their associated drivers pages can be found on our printer drivers page.
Setup a printer using printer software
Every printer should come with the software used to install a printer in Windows. Although not all installations are the same the steps for installing this software should be similar to the below steps.
  1. Connect the printer to the computer and a power outlet and make sure it's on.
  2. Insert the CD that was included with the printer. If the CD does not automatically start the install program open My Computer, double-click on the CD drive, and then the Setup or Install file.
  3. Follow the installation wizard and your printer and its associated software should be installed successfully.
Installing a printer only using the drivers
In addition to the above steps a users can install a printer in Windows only using the printer drivers. This is recommended if you only want the printer to be installed but not the additional printer software programs that are often included with the installation and/or you've download drivers.
A listing of printer drivers and software downloads can be found through our printer drivers page.
Note: if you've installed the printer doing the above steps these steps should not be necessary unless you encountered errors.
  1. Connect the printer to the computer and a power outlet and make sure it's on.
  2. Click Start, Settings, and Control Panel.
  3. In the control panel double-click the Printers or Printers and Fax icon.
  4. In the Printers window click the Add a printer icon.
  5. After completing the above steps the Windows Printer Wizard will appear. Click Next, to start the wizard.
  6. Windows will prompt you if you're installing a Local or Network printer. If the printer is connected to your computer choose Local printer attached to this computer and click Next.
  7. When prompted for the location of the drivers for the printer. Browse the computer to the directory of your drivers or point it to the CD that was included with your printer.
Testing the printer
After the printer has been installed in Windows you can use Windows to print a self-test page to make sure the printer is working by following the below steps.
Microsoft Windows 98, 2000, ME, XP, 2003, and Vista users
  1. Click Start, Settings, and open Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Printers or Printers and Fax icon.
  3. Right-click on the Printer you wish to test and click Properties. If you do not see your printer listed your printer is not installed. Seedocument CH000939 for additional information about installing a printer in Windows.
  4. In the Printers Properties window click the Print Test Page button.
  5. If the printer is able to print a test page, you're printer is installed and setup properly. However, if you're unable to print in other programs it's possible that the program you're attempting to print from has issues.
