Question about Panasonic DMRES15 DVD Recorder

ERROR MESSAGE..... When i put the power on, it displays "LD FVU" for a about 10 seconds, and then it opens the tray and displays "INSERT DISK" and it just stays there. Any DVD I put in it, it sends it back out.

I think that means that it is asking for a service cd to be inserted. I have a Panasonic DHR-EM55 and tried to increase the size of the hard drive - when I put the new hard drive in I got that message. Searching the forums indicates that the unit is asking for a Service firmware CD to be inserted so that it can initialize the Hard Drive.

Not sure if this is applicable to yours or not. When I put the original Hard Drive back in it works as normal.

Had the same LD FVU (Load FVU or firmware disc) message and fixed it this way: download firmware from http://www.pasctraining.panasonic.com/specialapplications/productfirmwaredownloads/DVD.ASP and make firmware disc and insert. After it loads and updates, you need to activate your remote again. When the message SET 1 appears, on the remote press ENTER and 1 together for 10 seconds. Done.

Sounds like a bad or dirty laser try using a cleaning disk, otherwise you might have a disc stuck in the reader and the system doesnt know what to do with it

DVD Code Problem No FVU

You need to install or update the Firmware. Go to www.panasonic.ca and search your model. You will then need to download the firmware for your player and burn it/mount it as an ISO file on to cd. Just follow the instructions and you'll be up and running in no time.

It took me about 25min, but it is working fine now.

LD Repeats itself every 15 seconds in play, DVD's play fine.

This solution should help or at least decrease the occurances.
It has worked for me.
The problem seems to be that the original manufacturer lubrication on the glide rails and on the glide track has lost it's viscosity causing the Laser Pick-up Head gliding process to bind causing video to repeat at any random binding point.
Open the top cover and play a Laser Disc.
Manually change from Side "A" to Side "B".
Observe how the Laser Pick-up Head glides on the track and on the glide rail.
Stop play mode and remove the Laser Disc.
With the tray open, unplug the power at the power electrical cord. Now with the power removed and the tray left open, take a "Q-Tip"™ and spray some ""WD-40"™ on the "Q-Tip"™.
Now gently tap the saturated "Q-Tip"™ along the full length of both the upper and bottom glide rails as well as the glide tracks.
Repeat this process.
Be careful not to touch or lube the Laser Pick-up Head with the "Q-Tip"™.
If you do touch the Laser Pick-up Head, just gently clean it with another "Q-Tip"™ saturated with alcohol.
When finished, reconnect the power and play a Laser Disc.
Manually change From "SIDE "A" to SIDE "B" about three times to spread the "WD-40"™ evenly and ease the gliding process.
This solution should help.

Toshiba sd-4205 5-dvd carousel changer declares mecha error during startup, will not eject tray.

This may not work for everyone, but.....
I had the same problem with the Toshiba SD-3205. After unplugging, trying button combos, etc, nothing worked. I could here a slight whine inside the machine, and then again...."MECHA ERROR".
I turned the unit on its side to see if there was a manual tray button on the bottom. Nothing. Then just to try it, I turned the machine off and on again while on its side.
It started up, I heard a clatter, and then the display changed to "INSERT DISC". I placed it the right way up again and pressed "OPEN TRAY" and it worked!
My theroy: There was one DVD in the carousel, and I think last time the tray shut, it got wedged somehow and prevented the carousel from rotating. Turning the machine on its side and pressing "OPEN" is what dislodged the disk.

DVD does not start set up automatically

Hi Turtis,

Did you ever solve this?? I have a similar problem on my DMREZ25EB and got told it could be resolved by updating the firmware which is what the FVU is meant to mean. However, I can't find my version of the Firmware on the panasonic.com site. If you solved this could you let me know what you did.

Thanks,

Vee.
