Question about Sony BDP-S300 Blu-Ray Disc Player

1 Answer

Blu-Ray BPD-S1 Blu-Ray player suddenly says "no disc". I have insertsd discs that have previously worked and on the advice of Kevin 000 (one of your techs) I bought a lens cleaner to no avail, it still says"no disc" so obviously it can't read the lens cleaner either. Kevin suggested that the lens might be out of allignment? Where do I go from here?

Brand new Sony BDP S350 suddenly says "no disc" and will not read any disc. It is all of 5 days old. I will be taking it back to Best Buy and hope to get another brand/model because this seems to be very common .... too common for a brand new unit.

Ya, suddenly showing "No Disc" Don't buy this model. Try something else. I took it to a tech, he cleaned the lense but with no luck. He came to the conclusion that the Lens is gone.

Sony BDP-BX2 Blu-Ray player now rejects valid discs as "invalid"

Sometimes the latest update IS the problem, not the solution. If possible go back to an earlier version and retry the disks. Many of the answers here about power down and the like are all good and sometimes helpful things to do. They also point to the fact there isn't much a consumer can do to fix or repair malfunctioning DVD/Blu-Ray players and it always comes down to cost. Do you want to repair or replace. You've had your unit, you say, about 3 years? I think this is about end of life. Anyway, try the previous software version and if that works turn automatic update off.

In most cases, the issue might be with the Java content on the new Blu-ray discs is making this issues. I cannot play my blue ray disk on the sony bdp-s300

This is an older, simpler player that can't support latest formats of BR disks (like the 3D ones), it doesn't have enough hardware power to do it. Nothing you can do about it, apart of course buying a newer model.

No disc

Hello,

has it been reading discs previously? If it has been reading discs previously, then it means the lens (laser) of your player is weak and that's why it cannot read disc.

You need to change the lens for it to be able to read disc again.

Good luck.

Chronicles of Narnia. Lion,witch,wardrobe blu-ray won't play

Updated firmware last night (for the Bd370) and the main movie disc for Chronicles of Narnia: Lion, witch, wardrobe worked (after previously stalling). However, the bonus disc still doesn't work when I play it (just a blank screen). I traded the Blue-ray DVD from where I bought it for another one, and it made no difference. However, both Narnia discs played okay in the store on a Sharp blue-ray DVD/Tv combo.
