Hi, I like what you have found so far. The part # on my TV doesn't have the "sj" in front of it or the "s" at the end. Would this make a difference? I did find a part on Direct Merchant that doesn't have the "s" at the end of the part number for not quite 60.00. I of course would rather pay the 35,00 instead of the 60.00 if you feel that Shop Jimmy's would work. Both adds mention the exact part # for my TV. I was told you have to be very careful with part numbers.

Thanks again for the quick response.

  • Anonymous Nov 27, 2010

I noticed after I sent you my message that in the header of my message it has a different part number??? In the body of my message is the correct one!!!
    Thanks again,
    Bill

  • Anonymous Nov 28, 2010

Part # is TH42PZ77U 42 Plasma TV - looking on ebay I found this one - it didn't have the "s" after the part number. It also said that it was compatible with my TV?

    Ebay Item # 330464943949

I was worried when I saw the different part # on the header of my 1st message, I hope that didn't mess you up. I must have replied to the wrong message on the "fixya" site?
Do you still think that this board is the problem? Thanks again for all your help!!!
    Bill

  • Anonymous Nov 28, 2010

ok, so I'm clear. You believe my problem is the H Board part #TNPA4360 is that correct? I already bought and tried the Sustain board on the right side and had the same results so I shipped it back. Which also told me that my sustain board was ok. Now my "H" board doesn't have an "s" at the end of the part number and the one in the ebay auction doesn't either, I enlarged the picture and you can see it clearly. So I think it will work, do you? Or am I missing something?
    Thanks, Bill

  • Anonymous Nov 28, 2010

That is what I'll do, thanks again for your help. A couple of days to a week and I hope I get on here with good news!!!!
    Take care, Bill

  • Anonymous Dec 01, 2010

I got the "H" board in today and installed it but I have the same problem, so either the board is bad??? or I have a different problem??? Need help again please, Thanks, Bill

  • Anonymous Dec 01, 2010

No, still does the same - 9 and 10

  • Anonymous Dec 01, 2010

supposedly this board came out of a TV that had a cracked screen. board could be bad???

  • Anonymous Dec 01, 2010

I just went and double checked it and it still has 9 and then 10 blinks, I wanted to make sure the first series was 9 and It is.

  • Anonymous Dec 01, 2010

do you think I should buy the same board from ShopJimmy. I will, if you think that this one is bad??? I hope you are getting my other replies because I don't see them in Fixya anywhere. Oh please remember that my Tv is a Panasonic plasma part # TH-42PZ77U with a white label and black lettering on the tag on the back. Thanks, Bill

  • Anonymous Dec 01, 2010

My Internet Service provider just went down so I had to reboot my network, I sent you 3-4 notes

  • Anonymous Dec 02, 2010

What about the board to the right of the "H" board??? That is where the cable TV is connected and I thought it might be from a surge on that line??? I'm no pro at this, just wondering. Thanks, Bill

Ok I added file to mediafire login is [email protected] password is service. I was reading through the file and it says there are a number of fuses in there, I don't see any fuses??? Would be nice if it was just a fuse? :)

  • Anonymous Dec 02, 2010

found the fuses, they look ok, checked with a meter, Anyway the led lights are lighting on the SU and SS boards.

  • Anonymous Dec 05, 2010

I'm thinking that I will just buy the DG board instead of trying to troubleshoot it. My meter skills are not that good and I don't have you right beside me :)

  • Anonymous Dec 05, 2010

Ordered the DG board last night - should be here in a couple of days. Hope this is it?

  • Anonymous Dec 10, 2010

I put in the DG board and still have the same problem, 9 blinks and then 10 blinks repeating. Any other ideas would be appreciated. I am getting an RMA from this last seller and sending this board back as soon as possible.

the board I bought was really corroded, very bad shape, I'm taking it out and sending it back. I'll look on shopjimmy if I get a chance. I do know how to solder. I would like to try and narrow it down to one board if possible. If you still think it's the DG board I will buy another one. Now I'm starting to ramble, don't know which way to go. I do know how to use a multimeter if you give me multiple test points I will double check readings. Looking for direction, I have never done a component change, this would be the first time. Don't know why I couldn't, I'm pretty capable. Don't have a solder station, but I could get a needle soldering iron and some solder wick. I'm going to look for a DG board on shopjimmy. Thanks, Sai

  • Anonymous Dec 11, 2010

So far I have not found a board with this part number (TNPA4415 1 DG board) found one with an "S" on the end but I don't think that will work. If you could give me some test points, we can start there. Right now I'm going to take out that other board and put mine back in. I'll check back in about 45 mins to an hour or tomorrow if you are already gone. Thanks, Bill

  • Anonymous Dec 11, 2010

Yes I tried shopjimmy but the part number had an "S" at the end so I don't think it will work. It needs to be a TNPA4415 1

  • Anonymous Dec 11, 2010

Nice job - just bought it - won't be here for a while. free shipping, going slow mail. Thanks - hope this one works.

  • Anonymous Dec 15, 2010

I got the new "DG" board in the mail and I'm about to put it in, I'll let you know how it goes. I'm excited, hope it works. I'm not missing something here am I? I should just have to put the board in and hook up my cable tv connection and then plug the tv in to power, right? Then it should at least give me a different blink sequence if this board is ok. Starting to second guess myself.

  • Anonymous Dec 16, 2010

I'm a pc tech so I understand the ESD issues. Thanks, ;)

  • Anonymous Dec 17, 2010

Sai, didn't work, same blink code 9 and then 10 repeating. Any other ideas??? Do you know what the screen drivers are??? I had a vendor for one of the boards I bought suggest that the reason the picture does not come up is usally because of the screen drivers??? What do you think?
    Bill

  • Anonymous Dec 17, 2010

I don't know what to do now, I suppose I will take that board out and RMA it back to the vendor. Is everyone selling me a bad board? I'm starting to think I should have just recycled this and been done with it. I thought we would at least get a different blink code one of those times???
Any other ideas or should I junk it. Power is getting to the sustain boards because the LED'S are lighting up, which leaves me to believe that all of the DG boards we got so far are bad???
    I don't know anymore, I bummed, Bill

  • Anonymous Dec 23, 2010

Well I spent better than 3 weeks and just about 200.00 and don't have anything to show for it. Oh I got my 12.00 back in a refund from fixya, so I guess I should be happy. If you didn't know what you were doing why didn't you say so??? oh yea, have a Happy New Year.

The source of the problem is not the sustain board but the main audio/video board. The one that looks like this(part sjtnpa4360s). Verify if the part number matches with the one in your set. I found one on shopjimmy for 35$

Yes it makes a difference. Please get me the exact part number so that I can find you the correct replacement.

  • Anonymous Nov 28, 2010

It can be compatible but the part number change indicates that its a different revision version that may or may not be compatible it works. I am sure that the problem is main board related.

  • Anonymous Nov 28, 2010

Absolutely. If the part number matches then you can just go ahead and order the part. Rest assure that the issue will be resolved if they are sending you a board in good working condition.

  • Anonymous Nov 28, 2010

You are welcome. Thank you for using Fixya!

  • Anonymous Dec 01, 2010

You said there are two series of blinks 9 followed by 10. Is one of them fixed?

  • Anonymous Dec 01, 2010

No it would not be. I can't say the same about boards with faulty components though. I had my doubts about a 35$ mainboard. Cheap boards usually means no testing.

  • Anonymous Dec 01, 2010

I am sure that this is mainboard related problem. What is the part number of the replacement you have purchased?

  • Anonymous Dec 02, 2010

Sorry for the delay. There seems to be some kind of a problwm and I could not access this site for a while. Anyways the service manual for your chassis says its the mainboard. Before you send it back though I would like to be absolutely sure. Here is a service manual specific to your model number and I am sure it will help us confirm the issue. Its not free though
    http://kxtga.com/p8u865uicth42pzbbu6mrvi...
Once you download it, upload a copy to mediafire and get me the link so that I can confirm the source of the problem

  • Anonymous Dec 03, 2010

Ok. I my laptop's adapter is dead and I am replying from my phone now. I am gonna get one in a couple of hours and will have a look when i get back. Sorry

  • Anonymous Dec 03, 2010

Ok. I have read the service manual and the timing chart suggests that it is a DG board fault. Part no: TNPA4415S. We can try a component level repair if you want as the service manual indicates the possible locations where the fault my lie. But you are going to need a multimeter. Let me know when you have one handy so that I can tell you where to look.

  • Anonymous Dec 05, 2010

Ok. Yes that seems like a good idea.

  • Anonymous Dec 05, 2010

Yes it is. Atleast thats what the service manual suggests.

  • Anonymous Dec 11, 2010

That is impossible! The service manual clearly states that its either the power supply board or the DG board(SOS 5 line overload). Either the board you have purchased is bad or the self-test diagnostic is not working correctly. Now I do not want you to order any more parts, we will perform a component level diagnosis. Stuff like this is bound to happen sometimes. Last week I was talking to a customer here who had the lamp light blinking on his projection tv. We tested the lamp, the door switch, DMD board, ballast etc., and finally found out that it was the G-board. I am telling this coz the self-test diagnosis is a major goof up in certain situations and component level repair would be the wau to go in such cases. Return the board, get another and see if it resolves the issue. Otherwise we will just perform a component level diagnosis atleast to narrow it down to a particular board, if not replace that particular component(which we can if you know how to solder).

    Sai.

  • Anonymous Dec 11, 2010

I am still here. Yes I do suggest you get a replacement DG board first as the service manual says that is the source of the problem. Did you try searching by part number on shopjimmy.com

  • Anonymous Dec 11, 2010

Well I ran a google search and could find a lot of sources.
    Like this one http://cgi.ebay.com/Panasonic-TH-42PZ77U...

  • Anonymous Dec 11, 2010

I am sure it will. Good luck.

  • Anonymous Dec 15, 2010

No thats all you need to do. Make sure that you touch some grounded metal before you touch the board though. ESD can can fry the board up in no time.

  • Anonymous Dec 17, 2010

Screen drivers are the sustain boards. But in case of sustain board problems start with you losing the picture(sound will still be there)

  • Anonymous Dec 23, 2010

See timing chart one page 26 for 10 blinks and let me know what you see. It clearly says its the DG board(see image below). So my opinion would be 1) You did not install it correctly or did not follow ESD safety precautions or
    2)You got a faulty replacement.
The ideal solution would be to perform a component level testing which you were not willing to do. What else can I do?

I have a panasonic plasma th46pz80u. Last week

On Panasonic 32LX TVs this is a known fault, repairable by a firmware upgrade. John Lewis in the UK sent out an engineer under their free 5 yr TV guarantee and completed the firmware upgrade for me. The only other store to compare with them for price and service is Richer Sounds but I believe you now have to buy the warranty for 10% of the purchase price. This problem will persist unless the upgrade is completed. For those of you in the UK, I would insist the seller repairs the problem under the Sale of Goods and Services Act as the TV is not fit for purpose without the upgrade.
