If your computer does not recognize the USB device, first try method 1 to work around this issue. Method 1: Initiate recognition of the USB device by using Device Manager To initiate recognition of the USB device by using Device Manager, follow these steps: Click Start, click Run, type Devmgmt.msc, and then click OK. The Device Manager window opens. Click to select your computer as the location for the scan. On the Action menu, click Scan for hardware changes. Windows XP recognizes the new device. Close the Device Manager window. If this method resolves the issue, you are finished. If this method does not resolve the issue, go to method 2. Method 2: Disable power management of the USB hub Note If you perform the following procedure, you may also reduce the battery life on a portable computer. Use this method if method 1 does not work. To disable power management of the USB hub, follow these steps: Click Start, click Run, type Devmgmt.msc, and then click OK. The Device Manager window opens. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers. Right-click a USB Root Hub in the list, and then click Properties. The USB Root Hub Properties dialog box is displayed. Click the Power Management tab. Click to clear the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box, and then click OK. Repeat steps 3 through 6 for each USB Root Hub in the list. On the Action menu, click Scan for hardware changes. Windows XP recognizes the new device. Close the Device Manager window. If this method does not resolve the issue, go to method 3. Method 3: Restart the computer To initiate recognition of the USB device, first unplug the USB device and restart the computer. Then, wait five to ten seconds before you plug the USB device into the computer or hub. Windows XP recognizes the new device. If this method does not resolve the issue, you might want to review the articles in the "Similar Problems and Solutions" section, or contact Support. Need software for win98. Seller never mentioned OS restriction.

Microsoft officially stopped supporting Windows 98/ME/NT in July 2008,
and stopped supporting Windows 2000 in July 2010.

Thus, any hardware (such as the mouse) first manufactured since 2008 will _NOT_ be supported.

Try a different mouse, or try a Google-search, to see if somebody has some advice about "forcing" Windows 98 to recognize the mouse.

Or, upgrade your computer to Windows XP, or buy a new computer with Windows 7.

I have bought Logitech wireless mouse M505. Which program do I need now?I simply need to support the mouse with the program

Windows will use a generic mouse driver to operate the mouse, no other software is required.

> Turn off the computer, plug in the USB dongle for the mouse, put the batts in the mouse, and turn on the 'puter.

Windows will recognize the mouse at startup, and you can fine-tune the settings if you wish. <

...However...Should your system be one of the stubborn few that refuses to make it easy, then DL the Logitech drivers/install software from this site:,en?section=downloads&|downloads||dd

Don't run the setup program. Instead reboot your computer and use the windows add hardware wizard to install the drivers from the CD. The windows hardware wizard will detect several different devices, allow it to install them all from the CD.

X-keys and Window XP SP2 x64 (64-bit)

Hi guys,
Unfortunately programming in Memory Resident Mode on Vista will not be supported, however if you program your unit on an XP or 2000 machine first you will be able to “run” your unit on Vista.

Because we are unable to program in Memory Resident Mode in a Vista environment we are currently moving to new firmware called MWII which supports a mode called Boot Mode. Boot Mode is very similar to Memory Resident Mode in that when operating in Boot Mode all of your X-keys device's macros are stored in the X-keys device's internal memory. Our MacroWorks II software is required to write programming to an X-keys device operating in Boot Mode or to read programming from that device.

I apologize for the inconvenience this will cause. If you have any questions for me please email me at:
