Yes, please do! We're testing it on two computers in the same house and cannot figure out why sometimes the green line is on one screen, sometimes on the other, and sometimes on both. arghhh... please advise.

the receiving computer has a 2 inch vertical green line in the middle of the screen. Does anyone know why and how to fix this or just not buy logitech webcams????

  • mickchs61 Nov 18, 2008

I have the same problem (green line and fuzzy picture) when I use Skype with friends on Comcast and Charter (mine is Cox Cable). Using Skype with two computers on Cox Cable doesn't have the problem. Could this be a transmission problem?

  • timoi Mar 04, 2009

You appear to have a similar problem to me (timoi, posted on 2nd March 2009), esmxyz14 (posted on Feb 28, 2009), and bobdean2 (posted on on Dec 06, 2008). Your line is green - we are seeing yellow, but it is still a vertical line. Has anyone found an answer yet?

Looking through a Skype forum thread, there appears to be at least 2 issues. First, for Logitech cam users you can try the following:

- Go to Skype / Tools / Options / Video Settings / Webcam settings / Advanced.
The contents of this window will vary depending on the particular model of camera that you have. If there are options for "Low Light Boost" and "Automatic Gain Control", turn them off. Adjust the manual sliders in the window to get reasonable video quality.

This seems to work for some people.

Then there is the more fundamental issue of Skype driver. Here is the link to the thread (http://forum.skype.com/index.php?showtopic=97038) but the essence is that the older the driver the more likely the issue. Even with the latest driver it is not a guaranteed fix, but many people seem to suggest that downloading the latest drivers works for at least some of the time. Clearly Skype have known about this for a while and are dragging their heels sorting it out.

Hope this helps, T.

what a stupid site! you have sent me an email with my own solution to my own problem! The only reason I had to fix it myself is because even though there are clearly at least 5 or 6 other people with the same problem, and some of them have had them posted for nearly a year, no one has supplied a solution. So ratings for Fixya - 0 out of 10.

My web cam is only video capture no picture capture.

Hello there

From the start menu, left click on control menu (these are the steps for XP yours might be a little different). Then on the dialog box that pops up, left click on the "Printers and other Hardware" option.

Another dialog box will pop up. Left click on the scanners and cameras option to bring another dialog box up. From there double click with the left mouse key on the icon for your camera. This will bring up the "Scanner and Camera Wizard."

Left click the next key to get to the image capture screen, position the camera and left click on the word "Take Picture" below the image. The image will show up on the scrolling menu next to the image capture part of the box. Select it (left click the small box next to the image to get a check mark in the box) or use the select all option to get all pictures, then left click the next key.

Select the picture destination from the drop down menus that appear and hit the next key to save. The next dialog box will ask what is to be done with the pictures. Select the option in front of the correct choice and hit the next key to bring up the final screen.

From here the picture location will be able to be opened. Left click on finish if finished or select the other appropriate choice. The images should be on the computer and ready to work with.
If there is no scanner and camera wizard available try the next option(if you are using iphoto plus).

Open iPhoto Plus and left click on the file option. From the drop down menu, scroll down to acquire and select source. Left click on select source.

From the dialog box that pops up, select your particular camera by left clicking on the down arrow key and scroll downward until your camera is found. Select the camera from the list by left clicking on it and then left click the ok button. (If your camera is already selected, this step may be unnecessary).

Now left click on the file button again select acquire and then left click on image. From the box that comes up make sure the radial button--the round area before the options--before the word "image" has a dark circle in it indicating it is selected. Then left click on the acquire button.

A dialog box will appear that is titled "acquire pictures from video". Position the camera for what picture is desired then left click on the capture button.

The picture will appear in a drop down menu on the other side of the video feed. Scroll down if need be and select the picture or left click the "select all" button if you would like all of them and then left click get pictures.

Now all the pictures should appear in iPhoto Plus. Save them to your computer with the save option or edit them at your leisure.
