Question about Dell Inspiron B130 Notebook

1 Answer

Cannot load to desktop

Not sure what reasons...

let me shorten mt description, when i load to the 2nd screen big windows sign, my screen suddenly blacks out, it's not shut down, i can hear my HD still running...

sorry for my bad english skills, it was an indian techician picked up my call and answer my call... he explained a lot i don't even know(sorry for my bad computer knowledge too) he just summed it up is my OS system problem...

he advised me not to open the laptop now, if i'm still under warranty it's free of charge, if not, got to be $39... ridiculous...

if anyone encounter the same problem as me, please reply.

Try plugging into an external monitor. If everything works properly on the external then it's a screen problem. If not then it's an operating system issue or hard drive problem.

My laptop suddenly went bonkers. it was ok then when i turned it on it took ages for the screen to change from saying"microsoft windows xp" like 5 or ten mins...then screen looked black for a while after...

Sounds like your best bet is a fresh install of the operating system. Since it is an Inspiron, you may have the option of using PC Restore to re-image the system (Provided previous owner didn't hose the restore)
Info is here
http://www.fixya.com/support/r3705089-restore_dell_system_original
other things you can do are run diagnostics (Hold Fn Key and Press Power Button) and make sure you don't get a hardware failure in the diags (Passing diags is no guarantee of no faults, just none found)
If all else fails, boot to XP CD and do a clean install of Windows, then load the drivers.
Link to drivers:
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd&ServiceTag=&SystemID=INSPIRONI6400/E1505&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=
Driver install order:
http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/downloads/en/driver_install_order?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd&~lt=print
The I6400 is a good system, (I'm writing this on on) but the description you give tells me the OS is hosed and likely a reinstall is your best and fastest resolution.

The laptop loads up, lets me sign in, then goes blank, no icons

Try booting to the safe mode (F8 at boot) and see if you can log in via the safe mode. If you can't, try booting to your Windows CD, go to recovery console and run CHKDSK /R
If you still can't log in, try running diags see if the hard drive lists a failure.
if no hardware failure found, there and none of those solutions work, then re-installing windows will likely be the final resolution

Audio Distortion after System Crash

sorry for the late reply. im using windows. im quite sure that there's no virus involved with the distortion of my sound. this is what happened.

1. im surfing the net while listening to music(full volume)
2.)then suddenly the sound gets a bit distorted(jumps, skips)
3.)then everything hangs up which forced me to reboot
4.)the windows loading screen became too long(like 5mins) before it takes me to the main desktop(start up programs loads like 48 years also).
5.)when i play music ,the sound is very much(like alien,"rrrrrrr")

i tried reinstalling the drivers but nothing was fixed. i've even tried Regcure.

i just formatted my notebook and voila its back to normal.
i dunno but i think playing loud music using laptop, or in my case notebook speakers would cause this problem. im using external speakers now and i've got no problems. i just hope that there would be a fix to this problem so that i wont have to reformat if the problem occurs again

My VAIO laptop will not load my desktop

Try booting to safe mode (F8 when you see the Sony window), and sign on as administrator. Go to the control panel and see if there is a password for your account name.

Cycle of Rebooting

Without knowing what the blue screen says the only suggestion I can make is to load the Windows XP cd when prompted hit the R key to enter the recovery console. When your at the command prompt type chkdsk /r it will take about an hour. Hopefully that will fix it.
