Question about Canon PC-940 Black and White Copier

1 Answer

Grinding noise The 940 sounds like the gears are not engaging ....or something horrible. I shut it off immediately, of course. I've noticed that the paper drawer has something blocking it about half-way in...if I hold down the spring-loaded piece that pushes up the paper, it will slip in. But, to no avail. when I remove the tray completely, it still grinds away...and I shut it down. I can't see it operating, of course. And, there is no manual that explains such a calamity. Charles A.

Loud grinding noise. Paper only coming half way out then getting Jam notice. Loud grinding is very loud.

Hi

Grinding noises indicate either gears that are self destructing or something is stuck inside. Take out the cartridge(s), remove the paper and all the plastic that comes off. Unplug the cables. Now lift the printer, turn upside down and shake. If there are broken gears a local repair shop might try to fix it but most stores refrain from this.

Gear grinding noise when copier operating

wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be a toner cartridge. Have you had to replace it sine the noise began? Is it remanufactured / compatible? I won't be surprised if the grinding stops once it's replaced. Just my 2 cents.

Canon PIXMA 530 grinds away

I had a persistant grinding noise about 30 seconds after the printer finished printing. It's been going on about 2 months. I did one thing which seemed to work. So try opening the cover on the back of the machine by lifting upward on the gray lever in the middle of the back of the machine. Leave this cover open during and after printing. The grinding noise went away.

Horrible grinding noise

The problem sounds like a broken or stripped gear in the printer. If the unit is under warranty I would contact the authorized repair station for that printer in your local area.

Thank you Krissy! I had the same problem with the horrible grinding noise.

I took out all of the toners and the photo developer and noticed that my Blue toner was leaking all over. After reading your post, I tried replacing the toner. It worked!!! No more noise - and no more mess!
