Replacement for the thermostat #279052 has different disconnects. The original wires are HS1 (blue with white dashes) and HS3 (red). Anyone can tell me which wire goes to terminal 1?

The thermostat is just a switch. It doesn't matter which of the 2 wires is connected to which terminal. It will work either way.

How do I install the 4 prong electrical cable to the dryer?

I would attach the black wire to the black & yellow, white to white, red to blue & brown. The green wire is your ground wire and needs to be attached to the cabinet. On the connection where your white wire is located see if there is a copper strap that goes from the terminal block to the cabinet. If there is, you will need to remove that strap and attach the green wire to where the strap was attached to the cabinet. Hope this helps!

I am trying to convert a three wire prong to 4 on my whirlpool dryer.

Inside the back of your dryer is a strip where the electric cord fastens on, behind a squarish panel about 5" X 5" sort-of.
There should be 3 screws/nuts in a row of the cord to hook to.
The right and the left screw/nut is HOT, for the black or red wire on a 4 wire cord. It does not matter which gets black and which gets red, they are both HOT. These wires are attached to the FLAT lugs on the plug end of the cord, NOT the "L" shaped or the round lugs.
On a four wire cord, there are also a white wire and a blue or green wire. These are both ground wires. The white wire goes to the middle screw/nut on the 3 connection bar of the machine, and the blue/green wire goes to the body of the dryer itself. (Use one of the little screws along side the opening for the wire.) The white wire goes to the "L" shaped lug on the plug, and the green/blue wire goes to the round lug of the plug.
Be blessed.

yes, hook up the black with the black the white with the white and the red where the blue was,now the green is just a ground wire, all you have to do is connect it anywhere to the metal frame of the machine just to ground it,look around there should be a screw somewhere near the other wire connections if not remove any screw and connect it and it will be fine.

My dryer has a three prong cord and the house i live in has a 4-prong connection. I purchased a 4 prong cord at Lowe's. I know the black and red are hot- no problem there . The ground wire (green) is...

the only difference is that the 4 prong wire has a ground wire,on the block the white wire should be in the middle, the red wire on one side and the black on the opposite side and the green connects to the frame,so yes the white wire will connect to the blue/green combo....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7kgMn5Frt8&feature=related check out this video,it has the blue/green wire you're talking about.hope this helps.

I have an Indesit ISL70 and we seem to have developed a problem. Three red lights are flashing (water, filter, heat exchanger, all of which are ok) and the door won't open. Any advice?

Note:- The front NTC connects on the top edge of the circuit board - plug with two orange wires. The element and rear NTC are connected on the right hand side of the circuit board - this plug has 5 wires Blue, Orange, Brown, Red and Black.

1) The front NTC measures approx 500k ohms.
2) The rear NTC measures approx 500K ohms [red and black wires on the plug]
3) The resistance between Orange and Blue Wires is Approx 46 Ohms [This is one half of the element]
4) The resistance between Orange and Brown wires is Approx 46 Ohms [This is the other half of the element]
5) The resistance between the Blue and Brown Wires is approx 92 Ohms [This both parts of the element]

My machine has 2 devices above the element, one is an NTC the other is the safety cut-out. The safety cut-out is connected in the orange wire to the element common connection.

The resistance of the NTC's varies with temperature - so you may not get the figure I have quoted. The resistance reduces as the NTC warms up; if you remove the NTC connect it to an Ohm meter and warm the flat metal side with your finger you'll see the resistance go down - the drop wont be dramatic [after all your finger is not that hot] and is easier to see on a digital meter.

Measurements taken with the plugs disconnected on a digital meter... and don't forget folks MAINS PLUG OUT FIRST!!!!

Important.... there are some different versions of these dryers, so different readings may be obtained.

I need a schematic for a Maytag Elec Dryer HDE606

Man I been digging around in the shop for my copy of a DE606 manual I have to no avail. hell I might have even thrown it away.
Well you have a common wire, a start wire,a run wire and 2 larger wires which carry the heater load. go with the 2 larger wires on those terminals for the cent switch. White would be common so that leaves 2 to guess at seems to me those might match number for number. Just guessing cause I ain't worked on one of these halo of heat models in years.
