Yes it is. The system is simply measuring the flash to meter the exposure.

Just got a Canon 7D. Attached my 430EX to the hot shoe and it won't fire. Tried new batteries and checked the contacts, and it still won't work. Put th 430EX back onto my Rebel XTI, where it has always...

Make sure you using flash grade batteries and not rechargables. try energiser ultra or litiums or duracelll plus but nothing else. if the charge light is not coming up then most likely batteries. I would take it to your local camera shot and test your 7d with one of thier 430 just to make sure the hotshoe didnt short out the flashgun

Flashes Canon 200E and/or Canon 430EZ + Rebel Xti or Canon G-10

No. You will need an EX series flash like the 430EX or 580EX. Those designated as EX II will also work.

My xti fell with the 430 ex II attached now it

The hot shoe was bent slightly causing the flash contacts to not touch those of the camera. By using a socket from a socket wrench set, place it over the grids of the hot shoe and tap firmly with a hammer to straighten it.

Soft puches for lens and flashs

Dear Emily Baird,
My suggestion would be to look at online aution sites to find the case for sale, or contact a local camera supply store to see if they might have a case for sale that would work for your flash.

Off camera flash

Here's how I did it with my Canon 430 EX II. The only other Canon flash that can act as a wireless trigger for off camera flash would be the 580 EX II and that is why I love it so much.

The only other way is Pocket Wizards or the Canon wireless thingy, which noone recommends....

Check out the NEW Pocket Wizard Mini TTi it truly does amazing things! And only 199.00!

God luck and let us know how it goes.
