Problem when downloading file says installer integrity check has failed. common causes include incomplete download and damaged media. cannot install files.

If you're reading the file from a CD-ROM, then either:
* the CD-ROM drive is reading incorrectly,
* the CD-ROM is scratched, and thus cannot be read 100% correctly,
* bad RAM in your computer, that "corrupts" the data being read from the disk into the RAM.

Replace the CD-ROM.
Replace the CD disk.
Download "MEMTEST86+", and run it, to test the RAM; replace, if necessary.

It won't see a blank disk or write to it

CD-ROM and DVD-ROM. ROM stands for "Read Only Memory". On the other hand, CD-RW, DVD-RW stand for "Read/Write". So, if the specs of your laptop say that you only have a DVD-ROM, not COMBO or something ending in RW, then you laptop's optical drive is simply not built for writing to discs.

Trying to install XP when disk selection comes up it reads, "Unkown disk. There is not disk in this drive". NOt sure what that means.

your drive is not being read,
have you set BIOS to boot from CD ROM,
is your CD ROM working,
is your XP CD working

Do the following
1 go to BIOS and re-set to BOOT from CD ROM
2 use another copy of XP/Win98/Vista etc to verify if CR ROM is reading the CDs else...
if you doubt CD ROM drive has a problem....
3 use a USB external CD ROM, and to do that u need to re-set the BIOS to boot from USB CD ROM

My cd-rom won't read the disk that i am putting in.

If you have a can of air, blow it softly into the cd-rom to make sure dust isn't causing the laser to act weird. Then try a couple of different cd's to be sure and if the problem still exists, then the cd-rom is bad and it will have to be replaced.

My computer will not read any of my disk or install

when you say disk did you mean hard disk? if you do... did you recenlty install a new hard disks?... if you did... did you check the jumper-master-slave configuration when installing the new hard disk?
only one hard disk can be configured as master in each ide channel. set up to master (not single) the one on the end of the ide cable and set up to slave the one attached to the midlle of the ide cable.
check that both hard drives are properly attached to the cable and that the power cable is properly seated.

when you say disk did you mean cd rom disks or dvd disks?
does it work in other computers? if it doesnt.. you cd/dvd disks may be the problem
are you trying to read a dvd disk on a cd rom only drive... you can't read a dvd in a cd rom drive.
if you cd/dvd rom drive should read the disk you're putting in, check in device manager if your system detects the cd/dvd rom drive. if it doesn't: check the physical connections (reseat ide cable, check jumper configuration for slave and master on your cd/dvd rom drive and check that the power cable is properly seated), check also in device manager the properties of the cd/dvd rom drive and check if it says on device status if the device is working correctly. if it doesn't post the error code that it may give you or google a solution with error code.

suggestion.. be more specific when posting your questions.. that way it will be easier for a solution to be provided as your issue could be interpreted in different ways
