Question about Sharp 25L-S100 25" TV

Open Question

Pscan split screen

Whenever we watch a DVD this TV shows a the same image side by side on the screen with a yellow box in the middle that reads P-scan. This dvd player worked fine on our other TV. Any ideas? We have also lost the remote. Will we need to get a universal to fix this?

Thanks for suggesting it might be the player. Apparently the TV is not progressive scan compatable. I just had to flip the switch. Sorry for the trouble.

What model of DVD player do you have?

The remote question - yes you'll need to get a universal because the TV is not sold at retail any longer and so there is very little to no chance that Sharp would still have a remote to sell.

Have you checked the manual on the DVD player to see if it talks about what you are seeing?

Good day.
You are possibly right. Audio circuit might got affected. I would like to suggest likewise that you check also if the speaker is busted, the audio IC and if it receives supply from the flyback.

Have you tried cable or another source? If so how long have you owned the tv as it sounds like it may require servicing. I can give you the contact info to locate the nearest authorized dealer or local repair shops as well.
Let me know if you need any further assistance and if you have a moment to accept and rate the solution I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Lee

On the front of the TV you should be able to press both channel up and down at the same time and it will give you access to the TV menu. Once in the menu use the channel and volume up and down buttons to navigate.

Good luck....

I was watching my television and all of a sudden the picture went snowy.

Only the older Analog type televisions get snow from lack of signal. The modern Digital TV gets pixilated. like missing pieces.
And on re-reading the title of your question, it does say CRT...... As in Cathode Ray Tube. (I thought they were all gone now, all around the world) Anyhow.... has your country switched off it's analog tv transmissions. This would give you snow. Because there is no Transmission. Seems unlikely they would stop transmission in the middle of what your watching.
So
Do you have a Digital Set Top Box feeding the TV? This would pick up Digital TV transmissions and convert them to your old CRT TV Screen. Knowing this should help you diagnose the problem.
Check the antenna input to your digital box and connections from the STB to your TV. They probably use a Yellow video cable and a Red & White (Sound Left & Right). You didn't mention if sound was still there?
Perhaps someone has pressed the remote control and the TV has jumped to one of the Antenna Channel inputs rather than the Video input (Yellow Video input)?
Might be that Simple.....
Good Luck

IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE SOME CAPACITORS OUT OF TOLERANCE WHICH NO AMOUNT OF ADJUSTMENTS WILL PUT IT RIGHT. BUT IF YOU GET THE CAPACTIORS REPLACED I AM SURE THAT SHOULD FIX YOUR PROBLEM.

There is a black square in the middle of my picture- it effects bot TV and DVD watching. Thanks

Thats part of the menu of some TVs, usually is a box intended to get information, but there is nothing to show. Go to the menu and try to find the option to hide the OSD (On screen display)

You likely have bad convergence output ic's type #STK392-570.  These can be purchased at UED 800-648-6657.  You will need to remove the board they are mounted on to be able to usolder the old ones and resolder the new ones.  These will be mounted on heat sinks.

Sounds like the PIP feature is causing the problem with the TV if you are connected directly to cable TV without a box inline and getting these issues.
