Your high voltage board is out part number 12920710 You will find this board on the back of the refrigerator under a square metal cover, once you remove the cover you will find an additional cover made of clear plastic. Make sure the refrigerator is unplugged before you go any further. Once you install your new board you must program the board with the instructions in the box. Follow them careful because it is easy to mess up. Your refrigerator will not run with out being programed. Also, take the old board back to where you bought it and ask for the 60.00 dollar core to be refunded to you. Maytag has a bulletin out R8178660 April 2007. If you need additional help let me know
frost is a sign that warm air is coming in from somewhere, the most common issue w/ bottom freezers is the door can appear to be shut, when its actually not.always shut door from the middle of the door, not sides. if a bottom freezer is preffered-i suggest a swinging door vs. the sliding drawer....
Check the door switch. I remember something about this machine from 7 years ago when I went to school on it. If it is the door switch, it also put pin #12 (Not sure about #) out on the board. If you change the board out without changing the switch. It will burn the board out again. So if you see a burnt place on the PC board, call factory and ask them before you change board. Sorry I couldnt help more but I do remember some thing about this and I didnt want to see you replace the board with a new one and it burn out as soon as you hook it up. They cost to much to be buying three or four of them.
If you can find the duct work behind the draws you might find an air control, if you have a contract with Sears - you can call them back, the part that was replaced has a Garn.T and or 30 days on service, when you ajust the temps it may sometime act up but has a default and will return to that. Cold air drops down. read the manual that came with the Refrig. Buying a service contract might be the best thing for piece of mind - Sears covers everything, even plactic and paint ( scratches). most everything is plastic in the refrigerators today and are very expensive, 3 doors allow more air into the unit then a 2 door because of the seal between the doors, just 2 pieces of rubber overlapping .
Act on this as fast as you can, 30 days on service goes fast and a service call runs about 75 dollars . Oh ! don't put wet veggies in draw and rap everything with Plastic wrap, veggies only least about 4 /5 days then become soft and lose taste and color.
Well, you're not gonna like this, but here's the deal.
Remove the three screws on the rear of the control panel and lift it up. Disconnect the rubber hose on the right side of the gray control module and blow through it to make sure it is clear and not kinked. If this check is fine then your control module needs replaced.
Note that Maytag knows this is a fairly common problem. My washer failed 9 months out of warranty with this problem.
The only good news is that it is an easy, though expensive, replacement.
I had the same problem 4/28/08 - Called Maytag they're sending the part and repairman free.
IN THE MEAN TIME.......Maytag suggested to me to: take a phillips head screw driver and remove the hinge cover from the top of the left door. You'll find a white connector with four wires coming from each side. Disconnect the connector in the middle and the flap will stop (and so will the lights).
I had the same problem, with this model and it was the high voltage control board located in the rear. Replaced the board and it is working OK. Maytag Part # 12920710 will work on this model and it is 40.00 cheaper than the one it shows when you do a parts search. It will come up 12920709. I checked with Maytag and they said 710 will work..
Thanks, Solution #3, for the phone number ((800) 688-9900)! We, too, have the Ice2O refrigerator, and the HV Board started the disco light show last night. Followed instructions above to disable it, which temporarily solved the problem. Was on the phone with Maytag (Whirlpool?) this AM, and their initial response was that they wouldn't cover anything since we are out of warranty. I had to be extremely firm with my expectation that all parts and labor would be covered. Sent the rep back to her supervisor several times until they agreed to cover both. If you find yourself in a similar situation, don't give up until everything is covered. This is a design issue that should NOT be impacted by an expired warranty!
