I had same thing fan would scream then off went PC open case there on mother board along side of heatsink there are 7 compactors that is if it has M2N-68-LA mother board if tops of copastors are rusty looking they need to be replased
... and tell me, what is your question. The hard drive doesnt care what the mother board looks like with the following proviso ... you have a IDE drive not ... the new mother board must support it. You have a serial drive, the mother board myst support it.
As long as you can plug in the drive, the drive doesnt really care.
you can consider 4 factor on no video,it maybe video card or memory card, processor last mother board this if PSU was good, you also check memory card to other computer, somerime need only to clean terminal slot of memory by pencil eraser, eraser slot then put it back, also video card same process in cleaning try also to other computer.Instale good memory card and good video card even with out hard drive,cd room the mother board.if does not run, defective motherboard,
no it is not hard. Open the side of the computer then unscrew the screw that is at the back of the CPU. Remove the wires that's connected to the CD rom, hard drive and mother board before removing the whole power supply. then you can replace in that same position as you see the previous power supply.
