I think it is Sony handycam but not sure what model it is.
Please provide model number to find out helpful info for you.
Model number would be written on sticker pasted at bottom of camcorder.

Have a new sony dsc-w120 cyber shot camera. first digital camera and have no clue. also have memory stick duo. can i transfer pictures directly from the camera to my mac computer using usb...

OK,
Camera has small inbuilt memory that can store few pictures. You can copy these photos in memory stick by inserting memory stick in camera, go to Menu >> Copy >> Yes.
Memory stick stores many photos depends on its size and let memory stick in camera, hook it with computer and transfer photos from memory card.
Thanks.

Canon Powershot A570 digital camera I had around 250 images in my memory stick, but all of a sudden when I tried to click another photo, all the images disappeared and showed the last picture clicked...

As all your photos are stored in your Canon digital camera's memory stick you could tryCard Data Recoverywhich will help you recover pics without casusing any damage to your photos. My bff recommended this extremely easy-to-usel software to me and he had used it successfully to recovered photos, music, etc. from his Sony memory card. Best wishes!

From memory to stick

The only way I know how to to do this is to remove the memory stick and download the photos to your computer. Then replace the memory stick and move the photos from your computer to the memory stick.

My Pictures just vanish!!!

Yes, you are possibly to recover the lost photos with so-called photo recovery software. Well, since you failed to mention the OS you are running, I'll recommend you have a try of Wondershare Photo Recovery, a program equipped with both Windows and Mac versions. For Windows OS, download from here. If you are running Mac OS X, get the program from this link.

Step-to-Step Instruction:

1. Download and install the trial version on your computer, then connect your camera memory card to the computer (I assume you are using Windows). Start Wondershare Photo Recovery and select the drive letter that assigned to camera memory card.
2. Then choose the file type (all, photo, video, music) click "Star Scan".
3. Now the scanning process will start automatically to look for the deleted items. You will then get a list of all recoverable ones.
4. Preview the photos. If your deleted ones are found, then you need pay to get the activation code. And click "Recover".

Tips:
1. Take the free trial version before you buy.
2. Before your deleted items are recovered, do not take more photos or videos.

I hope you good luck,

File error

I have seen this problem with generic SD memory cards so it could be a faulty memory stick.  Try to get a replacement.  If you want to try to recover the pictures you have taken, I suggest Zero Assumption Recovery (Google for it). Check to see if it is compatible with your camera before downloading.
