If it's still under warraty then I would contact Garmin about a replacement/repair if I were you.

Also, instead of removing the battery you could just let the battery drain by leaving it on.

I've read a few forums about the same problem. If there's a fix no one has found it. If you're still under warranty, get it replaced. One forum read that the owner had sent it in to be fixed and even though it wasn't under warranty any longer they sent a new one.

Hi,
If none of the above solutions work for you, you could let the unit exhaust the battery, and then recharge it before attempting the hard reset mentioned earlier.

If the unit is still under warranty, it may be worthwhile returning it if all else fails. You will have to pay (recorded)delivery, but It would be better than voiding warranty by repair at this stage.

Their information is Here.

HI,

Pull the front faceplate off. There is a small indentation under the word Garmin which you could use a finger nail to lift off the faceplate. After the faceplate is off, on the right side is a reset button. Hold it down for 3 seconds and then try powering up the unit. If the battery is completely dead you might have to recharge the battery for about 10-15 minutes to get it to start.

If you need anymore help let me know.

Please don't forget to rate the solution

Goodluck.

If pressing reset does not help then you need to disconnect the device from the power source. remove any battery or hard wire connections for at least 60 seconds. then try again.

If the battery requires you to remove the four screws then you are supposed to return the device for warranty work or replace it if it is out of warranty. The battery for this device is not designed to be removed by the consumer.

Another option is to keep trying to run the battery down until it is all the way gone. Then plug it back in. Eleminating all the juice from the battery will take time but is the same as a hard reset.

unplugged it during firmware upgrade?? because it can also cause problems like this

    Resetting Your c330
If your unit locks up, press the Power button to
turn off the unit, then press again to turn the unit back on. If this
does not help, reset your C330.
    1. Place your thumb nail in the groove located under the Garmin logo on the face plate.
    2. Gently pull off the face plate.
    3. Press the Reset button.
    4. Turn the unit back on; it will operate normally

    its ok

    do a hard reset:

    1. Hold reset button pressed for approx 15 sec

    2. Press power button while pressing reset button

    3. Release reset button while still pressing power button

    4. Device should start, hold power button pressed until you see white text on screen, last line should read "RTC..."

    5. Release power button

normally hard reset means removing whole battery power from the batteries and then reusing them.

its wil clear all memory errors in the processors.

  • dewan nafees ahmed Jun 24, 2008

    if nothing works

Go to Garmin's website and update the firmware.

    http://www8.garmin.com/products/webupdat...

    This will solve your problem.

dont forget to accept MY solution if u go by it.

feel free for asking any doubts u have.

    thank u for ur cooperation.

good luck for getting fixed soon

  • dewan nafees ahmed Jun 24, 2008

if none of the techniques help, then try this way

Try turning the unit off, then turn in on while pressing your finger on
the bottom right of the screen and holding it there for about 30
seconds. This should bring up the calibration screen, which will have
you press dots to calibrate the touch screen. See if this helps.
    CREDITS:kevin A

but if u r not even able to calibrate then screen has fault i think.

actually the screen is composed of two parts, the actual lcd and a digitizer
screen. There is a problem with the digitizer screen. If the unit is
still under warranty get a RMA from Garmin and return the unit. If the
unit is out of warranty then sell it and buy a new unit. It cost about
$130.00 + shipping for the screen and digitizer and refurbished C330
unit can be purchased on the internet with 2008 maps for about $140 +
    shipping.

How  OTRdriver's solution worked for me to clear up my StreetPilot C330 when it...

1- Turn off unit.  2- press and hold the bottom right corner of the screen. 3-While still pressing and holding bottom right corner, press and hold power button and continue holding both until a white screen appears with a black dot. 4- follow the on screen directions and your unit will be back to the day you first got it.

My streetpilot c330 won"t shut off.

IT'S CALLED A FROZEN SCREEN...

2 OPTIONS

ONE, RESET IT !!! (See resetting instructions below)

TWO, let the battery die out!

Waking up your c330...

If you left your Garmin c330 on running the battery will have 1% life left. If you turn c330 back on again, it will flash screen for 3 seconds then die, even charging it at this point will not wake it back up. TO BRING IT BACK TO LIFE... plug in the power home or car into Garmin c330. There is a tab in the front Garmin gray frame of your screen. You must take like your fingernails and under the logo "GARMIN" pull the whole gray plastic frame off. Underneath the plastic frame to the right hand side. There is a "RESET" button. Make sure power is plugged in while hitting reset. Your battery should come back to life. Cheers

You will need to reset the device.
1. On the silver faceplat, under the word "Garmin", there is a tab. Remove the silver-ish fram carefully by pulling on the tab with your nail then by the sides.
2. once removed, press the reset button.
3. Once reset, the unit should work properly.

Garmin c330 GPS

Hello, I have had 7 Garmin units and 4 of them where streetpilots like yours.
You can try a reset of the unit. This will restore the unit and you might loose any favorites etc that you have stored. Here's how you do a reset.
"With the unit off, place your thumbnail in the groove located under the Garmin logo on the face plate, gently pull off the face place. Press the reset button and turn the unit back on."
Try this and see how the unit works. If it still gives you the same problem then your unit needs repair. I have sent in at least 2 units to Garmin for repair in the last 2 years.
Thanks
