Sorry for the bad news, but that means you have broken the LCD screen, the only fix is a replacement screen, and it may be cheaper just to get a new computer.
Find a local computer repair shop and they can give you an estimate for replacing the screen.
when powered on the system powers up properly and the HDD and CPU are running fine but there is no display on the screen and is black,
first try the this step, try connecting an external monitor to the VGA port (generally in blue color) and see if you have a Display on the external monitor.
the black screen generally means that either the Display section is not getting power or the invertor board is damaged and this needs professional help in fixing / replacing it.
There are some possible options, look close to the lcd screen with a light;
1. If you see something on the screen, but it's very dim, then you will have to replace the CCFL/Inverter of your laptop. The backlight screen would be gone bad, and you will have to replace first the inverter board-a circuit which controls the backlight-. If this doesnt help, then your problem would be related to the inverter cable or the CCFL tube.
2. If you cannot see nothing on screen, then the problem would be related to the LVDS video output. It could happen that the video output inside the laptop don't work property, but external video does work good. This is the worst situation, because you will have to replace the motherboard.
if you changed the screens to a working one, then you should have a clear image on the main screen, or its damaged, or one of the monitor ribbons is not seated properly. have you updated your graphics driver?
