Question about Garmin zumo 550 GPS Receiver

Lost my vehicles

I downloaded the last update and since that, I lost my vehicles, I cannot download either. It says file extension is not recognized and trying to deal with garmin with any problems is not easy. I called them and they tried to help after 2 hours of trying the support guy was transferring me to software support and we got cut off. Last time i tried calling there was another 35 minute wait. I have emailed them with my problem and they told me to download the vehicles!!!!! Can you help me. Also since the last update it seems to give some strange directions.

Go to, select download webupdater, choose run(install) instead of save, run the webupdater to check if your device needs updates like firmware, bluetooth, gps....after that you'll find a whole lot of language and text stuff (pick the ones you need only) and a bunch of vehicles....I don't think it comes any easier....

    I reread your request, I don't understand where you get the file extention not recognized. If it's on the computer, that figures.

    The vehicles can only be displayed by the GPS, unless you have special software on the computer that can handle the file.

    Doesn't it show any vehicles at all?

    And whats with the strange directions?

I have lost my Mapsource Setup cd for my Garmin GPS

  1. Download MapSource software updater from Garmin. The version as of December 4, 2007 is 6.13.6, and the trick also works on Map Source version 6.13.5.
  2. Unpack or extract the content of MapSource_6136.exe
    downloaded using WinRAR.
  3. From the extracted files, run MAIN.msi.
  4. Then, run Setup.exe. Note: The sequence to execute Main.msi and then Setup.exe is important to avoid “Previous MapSource not found!” error.

Nuvi 700 lost its voice. How can I get it back?

Check that the volume is not down or muted. If not either the voice file is corrupted or not selected.
1. To select a new voice:
  • Press TOOLS (Bottom right corner of the screen with WHERE TO and VIEW MAP)
  • Press SETTINGS
  • Press LANGUAGE
On this screen there are 3 items including VOICE. Press VOICE and select ENGLISH if it's not already selected. If that doesn't solve the problem the English voice file is probably corrupted and needs to be downloaded again.
2. To replace the corrupted voice file:
  • Download and install, to your computer, the latest version of WEBUPDATER from
  • Connect your satnav to your computer and run the webupdater program.
  • It will find any updates to the satnav operating system. Select all and install them.
  • When the updates are installed webupdater will find optional updates including voice files. Select some of the English voice files and download them.
When they are downloaded safely disconnect your satnav and re-start it. You will then need to select one of the voices you downloaded as described in paragraph 1 above. This should solve your problem.

Lost all my SA maps on my garman nüvi 200.

Depending on how long ago you got the maps you may be able to download them again.
  1. Go to and log into myGarmin.
  2. When you're logged in click on the myMaps tab
  3. There you will see the maps you bought and under them the word "Details" in small blue writing. There may also be a message to say that there's an UPDATE AVAILABLE
  4. Click on DETAILS and this will bring you to a screen where you get the option to download the maps again for a limited length of time.
If the time limit has passed your only option is to buy an update. To do this go back to where it said UPDATE AVAILABLE and click on it. Follow the prompts.

My Magellan Maestro 5310 gps lost power when I left it in a cold car for 5 days. When I let it warm up and fully charged with the AC adaptor, I got only the System Diagnostics Screen - no Map View Screen....

hi wayne, it sounds like your map files have been lost or accidentally deleted, possibly and probably due to the update. (very common problem) this can be fixed but its a real pain in the rear if you try to do it yourself.

now im going to tell you how to get this fixed by magellan for free. call the number listed below (its the magellan support number) and tell them you tried to install the 4.72 update the gps would work anymore after that (that blue screen you are seeing is called the boot loader, and generally means you lost your maps)..make sure you download that file, because they will check and see if you did.

magellan will repair or replace any of their gps that were rendered inoperable due to one of there updates.

(download the update for it it now from HERE not sure where you got that 1.37 but dont even mention it to them)

I lost my instructions manual for Garmin Nuvi 205W. Can I get another?

1. Go to the manufactor's webiste.
2. There should be a search bar somewhere on the web page.
3. Click in the search bar, and type in your model number and then
type manual.
4. A lot of manuals files are in adobe reader extension file.

If you deleted your card your program is more than likely lost along with all of your maps. However never fear. If you had an account with tomtom you should be able to download a file from them that can update your sd card, But be aware they will probally charge you. Make sure to tell them that you were downloading one of THEIR updates.

Data card lost all it data

I don't know how it would have "lost" all it's data. More likely is all of it's data was "erased" or "deleted".

Take the card out and put it into your computer or someone else's Iway and see if the file folder is still on there. It probably is. You might just need to reset your Iway. You also might try downloading the newest software update (ver 1.3) from the Lowrance website.
This is not the maps, it's just the software for the unit itself.

If the map file actually isn't on the card anymore, then ask yourself:
Did you make a data card backup to your computer like the user manual suggests?
If yes, put the backup file onto a 2GB SD card and stick it back into your Iway.
If no, then you're out about $90 to buy a new set of maps. They come from Navtec, you can't buy them from Lowrance because Lowrance doesn't produce them.
