Error 0xc18a0106 whenever i try and print the error message above appears and the printer will not print. i thought i'd try cleaning the printerhedas but when i try this it says the same message and then says that there is a carriage jam.

replace the print head unit not the cartridge.

You might need to do a hard reset on the printer. Try to unplug the power cable at the back of the printer, while it's off press both # and number 3. While holding and pressing, connect back the power cable at the back and wait for the printer to turn on.

If it will not work for that reset, try to do the hard reset. You can do the same procedure but this time press and hold # and number 6.

If still not working, try the steps found in this article HP Reset. There are other hidden commands on the printer depending on its model.

This is most common error in inkjet HP inkjet printers.But you are not mentioned model number, any how try this:
Step 1.
> Remove all the supplies like print heads & cartridges..
> Remove USB or any other device connectivity from system.
> Switch off the printer.
> Wait couple of minutes.
> Switch on the printer, wait till printer asked for the supplies.
> Insert supplies as per specified messages.
> Check for ready mode, insert data cable & give print command.
>>>Check.. no message.. END.
Step 2:
> If problem remain same..(I will suggest for tech guys)
> switch off the machine, remove all the supplies
> Open printer side covers.
> find out the CMOS batter mounted on formatter ,remove it..
> wait couple of minutes..
> with out CMOS batter do the above said step 1 process.
> check.. I hope it will resolve this issue..give print command.. verify..once its resolved CMOS batter has to be installed.
> Switch off the machine,
> insert CMOS battery,
> do again step1 process,,..
......END....

Why dont you try uninstalling this form your PC/laptop and reinstalling it again.
This should help restart the printer again.

Hi I found this I know your error not in here but it may work for It worth a try nothing to lose and it may work. I know your error code is not in this but it some times it clean the error with this type of error number you can gave it a go try not harm it Error code: 0xc18a0201, 0xc18a0206, 0xc18a0306, 0xc18a030a, 0xd0620130, 0x887dd03a, 0xd05d010d, 0xf0af8004, 0xc19ac3ff, 0xc18a050...

Reset the product:
1. Without turning off the product, disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the product.
2. Remove the cartridges from the product.
3. Wait for the 'Insert Cartridges ' message to display on the control panel.
4. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product.
5. Wait 60 seconds.
6. Reconnect the power cord. If the product does not automatically turn on, press the Power button ( ).
7. Reinsert the cartridges, and then close any open doors on the product.
8. If you receive a prompt to print a calibration page, do so.
9. Reconnect the USB cable to the rear of the product, and then try printing again.

If you are getting inksystem failure along with Error 0xc18a0106 then contact HP support, if you are not getting ink system failure along with Error 0xc18a0106 then power cycle the printer and then reset, this will resolve the issue.
