Carrier furnace The air conditioner cools but the fan only runs 30-45 seconds and then off for about the same length of time. The condensor keeps running during this time.I was wondering is my 24v fan switch bad or do I have some other problem?

When thermostat turned up furnace ignites, heats and fan starts when plenum is up to temp. When thermostat is turned down flame goes off but fan continues to run.

If your furnace is relatively new, as in 10 years old or less, there should be a field adjustable 'cool down' cycle. On the circuit board there should be a dip switch or series of dip switches with 30, 60,90,120 indications. These numbers represent the length of time the relay on the circuit board allows the fan to run AFTER the thermostat satisfies. You may be able to adjust the time frame down one position from where its positioned now.

The second possibility, if the blower never shuts off at all is that the relay itself could be stuck in the closed position and keeping the fan on.

The line is frozen and the fan will not shut off. How do I turn the fan off?

Shut off the electric to your furnace.

the reason that the line is frozen is because of one two things:
First there is enough air passing over the A coil on your furnace.
Could be dirty filters - closed vents- furnace fan will not run/ stops and starts (bad motor).
Second the charge on your a/c unit is low.

Fuses were replaced first. Fan on airconditioning unit won't keep

It sounds like the run capacitor of your condensor fan failed. When it fails, it can prevent your fan from starting unless you manually spin it to get it going, then it could run for awhile before it overheats.

Condenser shuts down after a couple of hours.

check capacitors, make sure the condensor coil is clean. sounds like the compressor is overheating. is the condensor fan motor still turning when it stops cooling. if not check low voltage wires to condensor, furnace and t-stat

Carrier air conditioner cycles on and off

The compressor/condenser is being called all the time. The reason it goes off is because the evaporator (indoors) freezes up when the fan is told to turn off by the thermostat. This further cooling lowers the low side pressure below the low limit switch point turning off the compressor unit.
Solution: Make sure the thermostat is wired correctly. Green wire is usually the compressor wire but maybe not.

Furnace runs OK, but blower runs again a few seconds later

Could be a defective thermostat in the plenum.
When a gas furnace shuts down the fan(blower) will run until the plenum cools to the safe range. Usually 1 and 1/2 minutes.
Intermittent operation is a defective thermostat or relay.
