Question about Epson Stylus Photo R260 InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Prints only 1/2 the page

My R260 has started something very odd. If you are printing a multiple page document, sometimes it will print 1/2 of the page and go to the next page. I can shut it off and reboot my computer and turn the printer back on and it still does this. But sometimes it will start working correctly. It's a PAIN any ideas?

I have a similar problem in that on almost every print the page is ejected before the print is completed, the printer begins feeding multiple pages through and prints portions of the remaining image on random sheets. This happens when printing anything including documents with text and graphics but mainly with photos. I tried bypassing the spooler and setting to print direct to printer. I got one good print then it began again. I am running Vista (32 bit). Itried the printer witha machine running XP and it works flawlessly. Can you helo me sort out the Vista/EPSON incompatibility?

Have you viewed the document in 'print preview' mode to see if it has extra form feeds/eject paper/etc control characters in the document? That would surely cause problems.

Does it happen and also not happen on the same document?

There is a conflict with the Window's spooler. Here is how you fix it.

Go to the printers and faxes area and RIGHT CLICK" the printer and select properties.

Select the ADVANCE tab at the top.

Click "PRINT DIRECTLY TO PRINTER" and then "APPLY."

You are good to go..

I set something up to print and it only prints a half a page

Can you save your document to PDF and try to print it again? Sometimes there is 'corrupt' postscript information in your file, and when you make a PDF first, it will be solved. If you do not want to make a PDF first, try to print your document page by page. It also could be a memory problem. That sometimes will be solved by shutting down your printer, wait a minute than switch it on again. So, you can try these three things:
1: Shut down your printer, wait a minute switch it on again, than try to print your document
2: Print your document page by page
3: Make a pdf of your document first, than print the pdf
Succes!

When I print a one page document, tray 1 prints on multiple papers at a time. 1 page prints on 5 pages.

If you don't have a manual, you can find one here

My guess is either on the printer or the driver. Skimming the manual, it doesn't seem that you can set the default number of pages printed per sent print job on the printer, but that is something I would look into. This is a nice office printer, perhaps the printer is set to print multiple copies of everything it is sent. You could determine if it is the printer or driver/computer by printing to it from another computer.

If it is the computer, go into the control panel and select the properties for this printer. In there, check if the number of copies is improperly set to 5. This would happen for every print job sent from this system.

Does it print 5 copies of documents sent from different programs (i.e. Web Page, Word, Excel)? Quite possibly, one time you set it to print 5 copies and that application retained that as default. In that application, rather than clicking "print" click "printer setup" and look through the settings to see if it is requesting multiple copies.

I am 95% sure one of these three solutions will solve your problem.

Make sure that you have the correct paper size set in your printer settings. Incorrect size would cause the problem you describe.

Doesn't print correctly

Current printers do not have a 'built-in' font or character set. The printers only print what they are told to print by the application from which they are printing. What program are you printing from? Does it do this with all programs? Check printing from very basic programs like Notepad or Wordpad (print documents that are at least a couple of pages long). If the printer prints correctly from there, you may need to contact the publisher of the program that is giving you the weird printing.

I am reading your question and coming up with 2 different thoughts.
Are you wanting multiple prints of one page, or are you wanting to print out a 5 or 10 page document?
I am not sure how to answer.

My printer only prints the first page

You may want to verify that your in your printer menu it is set up to print the entire document not just the screen view document. If it is on the screen view it will only print what you can currently see, not the additional pages.
