This depends on the operating system you are using. If it's XP, right click on the desktop, select properties. Select the Settings tab. Select the box that represents your TV (will be either 1 or 2). You can press the identify button to find out too. Click advanced, the click the Monitor tab. This is where you change the refresh rate. Select it from the drop down, click apply and ok. Then you can ok out of the Display properties.

Hello I can't get anything on my screen except

Your PC is putting too high resolution for he VL1918 to display.
You need to set your PC video out put to the native resolution of the VL1918, which is 1280x1024 @60Hz.
You will have to hook up your old monitor (crt type?) and set the new resolution.
Or boot up in safe mode (hit f8 during boot up), and set the resolution to 640 x 480, reboot into regular mode, then rest the resolution to 1280x1024 260Hz.
Also watch out for bad caps in this monitor: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/Princeton%20VL1918W/

I have upto now been using my LG Flatron L1919S monitor as a tv with a separate tuner. today i replaced it with an LCD tv and was going to use the monitor for my computer. however when i connected it up...

It means your PC video output resolution is too high for the LG monitor to display (your old monitor (CRT) can handle higher resolution than this LG LCD monitor), you need to set the PC video resolution to native resolutionof this monitor which is 1280 x 1024 @60Hz. You may have to use the old monitor (CRT) to set the resolution to 1280 x 1024@60Hz, then hook up the LCD monitor.

Changed resolution and Wii will not stop rolling on screen. I have a lcd tv 101cm, will work okay on old 68cm tv.

For best results use the component cable for LCD TV.Make sure the screen is 16:9.Go on Wii menu and check the vertical frequency. If it 50Hz make it 60Hz or back.

Fpd1975w display flashes on and off

what resolution are you setting your screen to? if you are setting it too high or to a resolution/frequency that your monitor doesn't support, it will do this. Try setting it to 800 x 600 w/ 32 bit color and a frequency of 60Hz. If you do this and the monitor still blinks, you may just have a bad DVI cable.

Sharp Aquos Resolution

According to the manual for the TV, you need to change the resolution on the computer itself first.
The computer resolution should be 1024 X 768 at 60Hz or 1360 X 768 at 60Hz.

After the adjustment made on the laptop, then try the resolution change option.

Dynex 19 LCD

I went over the specs of the TV.
The max input for the VGA is 1360x768 at 60Hz. Anything higher will make the TV go bonkers.
I would try to get the resolution at 1360x768, then change the frequency to 60Hz.

TV won't recognize signal from a DVI to HDMI input adapter

I had a similar problem with a Mac Mini.  The problem was caused by a mix-matched resolution (the Mac tries to use 75Hz refresh rate, TV expects 60Hz).  The best solution I found was to remote into the Mac (I used LogMeIn.com) and change the resolution on the Mac from a remote computer until the image appears on screen.
Process: 1) Connect Mac to a normal monitor and install the LogMeIn server (or other VNC type application) 2) Connect the Mac to the TV 3) Connect to LogMeIn from another computer (preferrably one where you can see the TV) 4) Go to Applications / System Preferences / Display 5) Change the resolution to your TVs native resolution, and change the refresh rate to 60Hz

Trouble setting up VGA cable to watch movies from my computer on my TV?

First, make sure the VGA cable is plugged into the AV6 slot on the back of the TV.

You will have to go into your computer, and click Start --> Control Panel --> Appearances and Themes --> Display --> Settings and change the screen resolution to 800 x 600 first.

Then go into the program for your Graphics Card and change the screen resolution to 800 x 600 with a 60Hz Refresh Rate - sinc ethis will most likely be a change for you, your computer screen will seem to "flash" a bit - your eyes will adjust as you become used to this.

The other resolutions that work will be the following, but the 60 Hz refresh rate is the key:
Supported Display Resolution•Computer formats: 640 x 48060Hz, 800 x 600 60Hz, 1024 x768 60Hz, 1280 x 720 60Hz•

Error message on new monitor

Hello,

I don't know for sure because I don't own nor have I ever used one of these monitors before but this error likely means that either that there is a problem with the resolution or the frequency coming from the video card on your computer. The recommended resolution is 1280x1024@60Hz.

You can hook your PC up to your old monitor and check the Display Settings. According to the manual for the LG1780U (and many others) 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 and 1280x1024 should all be acceptable values, although 1280X1024 will give you she sharpest image for this monitor.

If you still need help LG offers 24/7 tech support @ 1-800-243-0000.

I hope this helps!

Need Help Setting Up Monitor

Basically the monitor wants your video card to feed it the display at a resolution of 1024 by 768 pixels. The 60Hz is the frequency and is standard for lcd monitors. Since the monitor is designed for 1024X768, it is shutting itself off in order to prevent damage.

To change your resolution (I'm assuming you have Windows), right click on a blank area on your desktop and select Properties from the list that pops up. The Display Properties windows will open, click on settings and change it to 1024X768. Next click on the Advanced button and then the Monitor tab and make sure the refresh rate is set to 60 Hertz
