Actuallyit sounds like your subbase for your thermostat is bad.
The resistor on the subbase is what goes out. Then the temperature swing is huge Especially if your thermostat seemed to keep the correct temperature during the heating season but now it wont keep the correct temperature for the cooling operation.u will need a technician to get it working .dont try to repair it urself or follow any nontecnical advices which can lead to further problem
feel free 4 further assistance .rate the particular experts solution as fixya that helps u understand n solve ur problem

This problem of yours should be handle by a professional on heater/cooler trying to repair it by yourself will just cause more damage because you should have a knowledge about this device so better ask a repir guy or take it to a repair center near you to avoid any problem with it...

Good luck.......

I have the 5 day. 2 day programmable thermostat. Installed in the winter but now that it is summer air conditioner won't come on. Can you please advise?

You should always include model number in requests. More info is better. In general, there is a setting for Heat and cold on cheaper thermostats. Mine is like that. It works for heating in winter and you must switch it to "cool" for summer. I assume you do have an AC unit for summer. Who wired it up? was it ever working? Did it get installed during winter? The wiring may be wrong, there are a lot of possible ways to wire. If you are not good at that (and why would you be here if you were?) better get a tech to check it out. In the old days, Edison might send out a tech for free to advise (not fix) if there is a possibility of short (dangerous).

We have just had a Honeywell H46C humidity controller installed. The technician told us to set both the humidistat and digital thermostat at 65 degrees when we leave the FL condo for the summer. Is this...

If you are leaving for SUMMER, definitely do not need to set at 65, that would be tremendous waste of energy. Humidistat in summer should be off. I wonder if he thought you would be gone during winter.

what i would do is make sure tha the hole for the wires that go to the humidistat is completely closed and that you are sensing the true humidity for the space also have the tech wire the so that the heat comes on instead of the ac for the de-hiumidification process.

My heat wont turn off

if you have an emergency heat position we will assume you've got a heat pump. If you do not have a heat pump you have the wrong thermostat for your application. Need model of this thermostat, wire colors, termiation points (what terminal designator they are connected to), and if you have it where they were and the model of the last thermostat that worked correctly
